I love Bennett and how he plays but the diving and some of his questionable plays don't scream Captain material. Need a guy above reproach in my opinion. Gio is great for that.

Not thrilled to hear this, but if the coach felt action needed to be taken, I trust his judgement. Instilling discipline, and keeping it, can be a fine line. Im disappointed in the players.

Frigging dial tone? Don't think beaming personality qualifies someone as being captain. We don't know what happens in the locker room. Hartley have him an A for a reason, he wore a C at 17 in junior for a reason. Sakic, Yzerman, etc etc weren't exactly movie stars either.

Bennett is probably a leader too, but let's not start this garbage.

Since I am not going to the game I am fine with this. It sucks for the fans that paid hard earned money to not see 2/3 of the top line and 2 future cornerstones scratched. Having said that this organization is doing the right thing and teaching these players a lesson. The playoffs are a long shot but also if a team was ever going to win without Monahan and Gaudreau it is against this Leafs roster

I don't think that's an activity allowable in the CBA. In fact, I don't believe a coach can do much other than make a player a healthy scratch

Some people here need to calm down. They made a mistake and they are getting punished for it. If it was a 4th liner, everyone would be applauding hartley. I am not the biggest harley fan but this is a good move. They are still kids and need to learn from their mistake.

Yup, coaches can scratch. Teams can fine and suspend. Aside from that, not much else.

Although I agree with the decision, I hope the three players' lack of judgement, or whatever you want to call it, isn't indicative of Hartley losing the room or some other dressing room issues.
