Today, Variety has reported that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, executive producers of Game of Thrones, have said “they are considering an abbreviated end game” for the show.
Variety exclusively reports that Benioff and Weiss have stated they’re considering wrapping up Thrones with “just 13 more episodes once this sixth season is over: seven episodes for season 7; six for the eighth and potential final season.”
...
So why the change? There isn’t enough time to produce ten episodes in a year. Weiss says, “It’s crossing out of a television schedule into more of a mid-range movie schedule.”
Lombardo weighs in the discussion, admitting Benioff and Weiss are looking to end with two more seasons. “That’s my understanding from them right now, those have been the conversations we’ve had,” he tells Variety. The exec confirms that they are still in negotiations.

Just don't make April a hard start for each season. Every other hbo show is mostly all over the place. If they need more than 12 months, give it to them. Don't start season 7 until September of 2017 instead of April.
I prefer the less episodes more substantial content approach. Honestly if TWD did this their show would be 100x better. Anyone who pays attention can already guess the ending at this point, lets just get to it already!

lol do people seriously not know about torrents? Or are people scared to use them? Guess some of you worry of ethics? Not me, I download 1080p, pop it onto my USB, plug it into my TV
It's not about not knowing about torrents, but I'll be watching this season on my new home theater system (7.1 speaker + projector) and you can really tell the difference in quality for original source vs torrents.

people who want to investigate the option of using torrents can easily do so without help from a hockey forum. if someone's asking how to watch Game of Thrones on here without having to pay the full HBO subscription amount, I give the benefit of the doubt and assume they still mean legally.
if you're a torrenter then great, keep doing that, without lol'ing at people who want to do it legit. there's nothing worse than a pirate that boasts about all their pirate stuff.

HBO and AMC have different business models.
HBO charges more and has no commercials. It's no benefit to them to have more episodes once they've pulled in the subscribers. In fact, their better off spending less money making fewer episodes.
AMC has commercials but lower subscription fees. They have an incentive to squeeze out as many episodes as they can while still keeping ratings high.

Anyway, if you like very dry humor this is great. How excited Ramsay snow/bolton is when it is compete crap made me laugh and then it gets... slightly better
So, predictions/speculation for the upcoming season?
I have to think that Daenerys will start to factor in to the Westeros story. But based on her current predicament, it will be a while before the invasion plans are set. I bet season 6 ends on a 'cliffhanger' with her setting sail from Meereen, dragons overhead, Tyrion being the general of her army.
In King's Landing, there will be intense civil war. No one is sure who is charge, especially when Tommen is killed/disappears or something.
Obviously, Jon Snow is dead. But whatever he will be called, a 'reborn' character played by Kit Harrington will reclaim Winterfell with his freefolk army (along with Davos and Melissandre). Then he has to figure into the larger war going on, and get the high families to actually care about the Whitewalker army coming over/under/through the Wall.
Dorne...was there some hint that they were teaming up with Highgarden behind the scenes? I imagine they will form one faction of the civil war.
Sansa, Theon and Brienne will team up...but who knows for what purpose. Littlefinger has to be part of the end game, so I don't expect him to be killed this season. But he's got it coming eventually, right?
Arya becomes a master assassin, gains her sight back, retrieves Needle, sets sail for Westeros with a contract to kill...the New Jon Snow. And she can't do it. Oooh, or maybe hired to kill Daenerys, and Tyrion stops her and recognizes her. But I still think Arya and Jon have to meet up again, eventually.
Oh ####, then there is Bran, who works on his warging abilities, and is ready to take over one of Daenerys's dragons when she lands in Westeros.
Some larger characters have to die. Maybe Cersei will meet her end, sacrificing herself to protect her last remaining child. Or Jamie does the same (but not after secretly marrying Brienne giving her a Lannister heir). I'm not sure what they are doing with Daario Naharis, but he will probably be killed protecting his queen, or betray her.
So, I'm a little excited to see where the story goes. I'll stop before this becomes too much like fan fiction.

With the North, at some point the White Walkers will break through. At some point the North will be claimed from the Boltons.
I'm not sure what will happen first. A scene with Ramsay's relatively strong army against the White Walkers could work. John Snow then returns to Winterfell to find a dying Ramsay. That would deny Sansa her revenge though. So instead, you could have the armies of the North unite and reclaim Winterfell then retreat as the White Walkers advance.
Another issue is that we still don't know the White Walkers motivations. They could be good guys and have no intent of taking all of Westeros. Maybe they're trying to stop something even worse.

Yeah, I don't think an army that shows up, slaughters wildlings, and then does that whole dramatic raising the dead to join our undead army while ominously staring at what's left of the wildlings and Knights Watch is very likely to have good intentions.
They're pretty clearly the bad guys.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
Invasion is likely the goal, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are bad guys...
