Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN
Calgary seems the most likely destination for Cam Talbot at this point but situation remains fluid. Other teams still showing interest
Strang is a New York beat writer for ESPN
Uh oh.

With all the changes in Edmonton and his boys in the bus being replaced, I think Sather's dealings with the Oilers are different for the first time in his career.

Other than the Flames, who else in that crop of suitors has two 2nds? Ugh.

if the Flames get Talbot I wonder if Ortio is part of a larger trade to move up.

What if it is Talbot and Klien for 2x2nd+? I think I would be ok with that.

Could be a 2nd this year and another next year from a different team.
I hope.

That would be better for sure. Klein would be a great help on D.
It would also help if Tree could then flip Hiller for a decent pick in this draft.

Why does this all just not make sense!!?!? We need defense and we need wingers!!
I would rather start Gilles as our backup than trade 2 seconds for Cam Talbot!

if the flames can unload Hiller for a 2nd, then maybe its not so bad. Hiller + 2nd for Talbot.
Not sure what Hillers market would be though. Certainly increases with Lehner and Talbot gone though.

Gillies is years away in my view.... that is the problem.
Hillier has one year left, then he is done in my view
Ramo is going to sign somewhere else
Ortio has to pass thru waivers....

I have nothing against Talbot.. he's had good stats for all of his career. 27 is the right age to get a goalie as well. I would prefer not to move two 2nd round picks however.

Has anyone posted a logical reason for us giving up assets for NYR's backup when we have Hiller and Ortio, who proved himself to be a capable backup and possible starter at times last year?

on the face of it a 52nd and 53rd OA picks for a goalie you believe will be in the nets for 4-5 years doesn't feel like an overpayment. but this is the draft, this is where these draft picks carry the MOST currency. we're talking about sven+glencross for talbot, and that does seem lopsided. particularly at a time of the season when picks are a hot commodity.

Anyone interested in Girardi? I think the Rangers were looking to unload his contract. Maybe a deal similar to the Sens/Sabres?
