Another tip. If you're going westbound on #1 you can spend easily 10-15 minutes waiting to turn left into COP. The advanced green is stupidly short. Instead, turn right (by the McDonalds) and do a (hopefully legal) u turn.

I hope Klimchuk can find some chemistry with Bennett. They were roommates at the U-18 tournament in Russia two years ago and I think they would complement each other pretty well.

Tell me which prospect pool you would rather have. Doesn't always mean it they will be the better AHL squad. Will be interesting to see how Stockton does, however.

I'm pretty sure Adirondack was a pretty lethal team when they had steady goaltending. After Ortio went down they didn't have any real veteran goalies to keep them in it. Hopefully with the added depth (including in goal) Stockton can become that powerhouse team.
But yes the success of Utica was 100% due to the veteran AHLers, whereas Adirondack didn't really go out for another Kris Kolanos type player and just let the youngsters take the reins.

Mangiapane is a great stick-handler. Every Klimchuk shot seemed to go in.
Caged Great was down at the rink, too.

I remember last year Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun wrote an article about how the Oilers farm team was winning and it was a sign of the Oilers turning the corner.
I tweeted back that the average age of the top 8 guys in ice time was 28.5 and that it wasn't really a team developing anything at all.
He didn't respond.

Any update on Sieloff? Is it time to forget about him like we did with John Negrin?
After drafting Anderson/Kylington and the success stories of Culkin, Kulak and Hickey I have to imagine his time is running out

For me Seiloff get 2 more years of healthy development before getting written off like Negrin. Some may write him off now and some may wait until the year is out. He's a long shot now for sure but he can certainly turn it around.

My hope for Klimchuk is a more consistent Stempniak. Not an overly large but versatile player that can play on lines 1-3 and has good finishing ability.

Still need to be patient. We cut ties with Negrin 5 years after his draft.
Only been 3 years for Sieloff with one of those being missed completely due to his infection.
Will be a big year for him but think we need to see if he can bounce back after missing an entire year of hockey, and last year was pretty much just getting his feet under him again.

I feel like reaching for Morrison and Nakladal? kind of pushes him right out of the lineup at this point

Be careful of this, they are doing construction along Bowfort Rd as well, and making that U-turn section into a traffic circle. Bowfort is also closed going to Bowness so you have to turn around in one of the mall areas which could be quite busy.

Probably still space for him, Cundari and Acolaste are gone so that opens up space. IMO we likely have 7 d-men that are probably on track to play in Stockton next year.
FA Veteran
Wotherspoon
Nakladal (One of them is probably #7 in Calgary)
Morrison
Kulak
Culkin
Sieloff
Kanzig probably goes to the ECHL for seasoning as the Flames have done with other d-men

Driving there from the SW you can also try going on Old Banff Coach Road and entering COP by the ski jump (then going down the hairpin turns).
Are they always on the crappy end-viewing ice or are they going to be on the main ice any time?

I was there, just taking a short break before doing a write up. Left a little late because of talking with /interviewing Conroy, which was fun.

The morning session was very similar to yesterday in terms of performance.
Nobody took a step back from their performances yesterday, but a few players were better. Bennett, Mangiapane and Andersson were noticeably better. Mangiapane had a little more determination. Yesterday he was pushed off the puck easily at times and today that wasn't as much of a problem.
Jonathan Jutzi also was noticeable with his foot speed in a positive manner. Fram also was more noticeable today, although he does need to get better if he wants a contract. If I was to guess, I would say that he might get the Hathaway deal, play in the A and earn an NHL contract.
Riley Bruce looks like a less mean version of Kanzig from his first development camp. His skating needs to improve significantly.
Austin Carroll made a really nice pass on a 2 on 1 drill that burned both Hickey and Gillies, setting up Klimchuk for the easiest of tap ins.
Gillies and McDonald both played very good, very composed in the net. Not a lot of wasted actions, although the coach on ice did chew out Gillies after he lazily waved a puck with his glove, not making the save. That was the only weak goal either gave up from what I saw.
In the 2nd group, the D-men were the best. Kulak, Morrison, and Kylington were all very good. Kylington's skating improved from yesterday, a lot more fluid both forwards, backwards and laterally. Baillie and Hawkins were again the best of the walk on forwards, although they were both a little better yesterday. Poirier was also better today.

Kanzig's skating has improved to the point where if you did not pay attention to the #'s and the fact that he's a giant, he would be interchangeable from most of the other D-men. If his skating improves a little more, he should be okay to play at the NHL level without being a Hal Gill type pylon.
He is focusing on both increasing his passing skills and his skating.
