They really should be using a wider spectrum for player overalls.

Maybe I won't have to edit all the Flames players this year (for once), that all looks very reasonable.

detailed ratings for the top 50 (ie. not just overall):
https://www.easports.com/nhl/news/20...ratings-top-50

i hate ea ratings. There's little player differentiation.

Let's take Defensive awareness as an example. Why are all the league's top scoring forwards all great defensively?!?

Seguin - 86
Kane - 87
Hall - 86
Kessel - 84

None of these players have that strong of defensive play. They should be in the 70s. What makes the toews, zetterbergs, truly elite is that they not only have offensive in the high 80/90s, but their defense is also there.

Actually fairly generous on the Flames player ratings. Having Gaudreau as a low probability to be elite is laughable.

This. NHL players should range from the 60s to the 90s, with juniors and minor league players even lower. There's very little difference between an 80 overall and a 90 overall during gameplay.

Actually make the lower ratings have a use in the game, rather than anyone below 40-50 being like someone my skill level. Like the average CHL player rated in the 20's

Yeah same with Monahan and Bennett. Unless the potential system works differently this year. Last year Monahan was rated medium elite and he would get to about an 88 or 89. Johnny was the same low elite and would get to 86. That seems low to me.

All three always dropped in potential after the first season, too.

I maxed Gaudreau out at 88, Monahan at 86, and Bennett at 83.

The HUT players ratings are available on Huthead.com
http://www.huthead.com/

You can't search for players though, but you have to use some sort of generator.

In general player rating are lower than in NHL 15.

The Flames players I found:

Mark Giordano 87
TJ Brodie 86
Johnny Gaudreau 84 (which is the same rating as Zach Kassian)
Michael Frolik 84
Lance Bouma 82
Matt Stajan 82
Mikael Backlund 82
Michael Ferland 82
Mason Raymond 82

I believe Monahan is 87 as well.

And some prospects: (silver and bronze players)

Joni Ortio 81
Drew Shore 81
Bill Arnold 80
Hunter Smith 77
Morgan Klimchuk 76
Brett Kulak 75
Mason McDonald 74
Andrew Mangiapane 72

Johnny doesn't really lend well to a high rating in these games. Players who are small and skilled score lower on all the physical characteristics which drags their OVR down. The Selke candidate guys always seem higher than they should be, which is why Kesler is still an 89 and why Datsyuk has traditionally been up near Crosby territory until this year.

Called it unfortunately....Flames getting no credit or respect for their stellar year last year. Typical EA.

Agree 1000%, the lack of player differentiation has always been a problem. Not once has playing with Crosby or Ovechkin actually felt like playing as those players. The only one that ever felt close to reality was Gretzky on the superstar teams.

That's mostly because of the skill stick. I can dangle the same with Bollig that I can with Gaudreau essentially which is just dumb. They should make it so when you try a dirty move with an Engelland, you immediately cough up the puck. I score so many pretty goals with bad players lol.

The only thing that really separates the players is their speed. Massive difference between 90 acceleration vs 80. Build a team of Coglianos and back them up with up with a bunch of big defensemen and you're laughing. If you play a GM mode past year 6 or so it seems all new players develop into 90-99 spd/acc anyway so then it truly doesn't matter, they are all the same. Player progression is basically broken, I hope they fix that above all else.

Yep, going to try a team of Helm, Duchene, Gaborik, Hagelin, Grabner, Cogliano, Byron...
