Kesler, Perry, even Getzlaf's whining.
The only reason anyone ever had to actually cheer for the Ducks retired last year.

I really would've liked to see one last game at the Dome this year. Oh well...

It's kind of expected from Kesler but man did Getzlaf do a lot of whining in this series. The Ducks collectively whined even more than the Canucks as it was constant anytime a call went against them. Got pretty annoying actually and it looks like it may have worked for them as the officiating in the last two games was pretty poor from a Flames standpoint.

Getzlaf has been a major whiner since his days with the Hitmen. The guy also does a lot of great things - i.e.: Getzlaf's Gamers - but lets just say he is the perfect captain for the likes of Perry and Kesler.

Sometimes you just run into a team that's bigger, faster, more talented and healthier. Not much you can do.
This team confounded me at every turn this year. Great season.

I still can't get over that they called Backlund for a slash on that play, just a terrible call that could be called literally every shift.

Not surprised at the outcome and not upset at all. Ramo played possibly his best NHL game. But man the Ducks are just a force to be reckoned with. They are easily the cup favourites and I just don't see any team stopping them. Not only did they push the Flames around along the boards, but they have speed and skill to boot. No shame in all at losing to the probable cup champs. Just a fantastic season all around.
Obviously '86 and '89 were elite teams. '04 we had a force in Iggy and the impenetrable wall of Kipper to fall back on. 2015 I'll always remember as the team that all pulled together in the same direction. Everything all year was a team effort, all the way from the owners to the training staff. Everyone pulling the rope in the same direction. I know we need to upgrade in certain areas, but I'll still be happy as heck if most of the same guys come back. Can't wait for next season!

Perry definately wasnt faking and im glad the Ducks bench and Boudreau didnt go nuts. Sure Stoner and Maroon were held of by Engelland but they were just to have a small scrum.
Imagine if this happened in Montreal?

Yup but Flames were ahead so thats ok. Penalties were going to be alled against Calgary until it was 2-2

I've been wondering this since last night. I didn't want to say anything before, but I'm pretty sure Hudler has cracked ribs from a hit he took from Regehr with 3:30 remaining in the game against LA (the one just to the right of the players bench).
Monahan I'm more curious about......

What a great season. It got me excited to watch hockey again. The Ducks deserved the win but we sure have a team to look forward to.

I want to know who was injured and with what.
I hope that was the case for Monahan and Hudler, because they completely fell flat once the playoffs started and were nowhere near good enough to be leading the top line..and that was concerning. the top line was a shadow for its former self with only one third of it being a consistent factor. for Monahan I hope its not a case of him being a regular season performer. which, unfortunately, can be the case with some players.

I don't see why people are willing to give Perry the benefit of the doubt. It looked like it could have hurt, but that doesn't mean it hurt to the extent he made it seem. Throwing his gloves in the air and hobbling like his knee had been blown to bits, sorry I just don't buy it. I would give any other Duck a pass on that one but Perry is another story. He's a dirty player who is a more talented Burrows/Marchand. There is no reason to think he wasn't playing it up for the 5 min major. Again, any other player I would believe but I'm not willing to afford that belief to a rat like Perry. He's earned his reputation over the years.

Fun fact:
Getzlaf, Perry and Kesler were born in 85, 85 and 84 respectively.
Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett will be the same average age as those 3 are now in the 2024/25 playoffs.

Flames left it all out on the ice in my opinion. They had a lead in each of the last three games of the series. Hang on to those leads and its 3-2 Flames instead of 4-1 Anaheim. The point being that the culture of this team was strong enough for the upset. I believe more than anything they were just missing a couple of pieces (one in the top 6 and Giordano) and they probably could have pulled it off.
There is a lot to be positive about with this team and what they gained this year. In terms of culture, this team reminds me a lot of LA a couple of years before they won the cup (I remember specifically the series they lost to Vancouver a few years ago and the announcers making that very comment that they were close). In terms of the build of the team, I believe we are following the Chicago model. Whether or not we have the horses for that blueprint remains to be seen.

Agreed, Perry's "track record" does not earn him the benefit of the doubt. His past behaviour has me fully on the, unless proven otherwise, that was all a show to try and draw a 5min major.
