Yeah that is one thing.

Oilers have 3 years to make this work.

Once McDavid and Nurse ELCs expire it could be hard to build a team outside of the 6 high draft picks.

Default [News] The Edmonton Oilers win the draft lottery and will select 1st overall

The oilers are like a little spoiled princess brat. Things just keep falling into their lap without having to earn it. Rewards just keeping coming to this little b##ch.
This cleary will never happen, but if Lowe/MacT had any sense of integrity, they would trade this pick.

I'm not angry that the Oilers got McDavid. I honestly couldn't care less about their team. My focus is on the Flames.

I'm angry that arrogant rat turds like MacT, Lowe, and Katz are being rewarded for their sheer incompetence and inability to successfully run a franchise. I'm disgusted to know that I'll have to watch that goof ball Katz and his kid get up on stage and act like they're the greatest AGAIN. These people aren't qualified to run a McDonalds, let alone an NHL franchise.

Someone needs to do a time lapse on Katz's kid to show how much time has really passed. What a train wreck of an organization.

Looking for a silver lining...

- we get to see him 2-3 times a year live
- Battle of Alberta now means something... well, it will eventually
- Edmonton is still the worst managed team in the league and this will now remain for at least a few more years
- He's only one player, and Edmonton still has holes on the blue line and in net
- Don't underestimate the Curse of the Oiler (sorry Connor)
- At least it wasn't the Kings, Avs or Leafs

Ha, oh my, nothing you can do but laugh.

McDavid would've been fun but Eichel is still a super elite center prospect. I look forward to him and Reinhart down the middle for years and feel bad for McDavid, the hockey graveyard up there.

Yeah, not a smart thing to be so openly disappointed about it. Settling for Eichel isn't anything to be sad about.

I was hoping Buffalo didn't win, their management just rubs me the wrong way...not exactly what I had in mind though.

And with that your daughter exhibited a better understanding of how to build a winner than any single person in the Oiler organization.

Don't you actually have to benefit from something first before you can call it a reward?

Boy by the sounds of Tim Murray today, You'd hink he'd rather take a porcupine to the face than draft Eichel. I hope you guys take him. He's got the talent to be the next Modano.

I'm not really sure where that one came from, I watched an 8 minute interview with him post lottery and the only thing he said he was disappointed in was the 'process', like probably every other NHL executive outside of Edmonton is after that train wreck franchise gets ANOTHER number one pick. And it was after he was asked if he was disappointed too. Said they are very happy with either center and that Eichel is as ready to play and be successful in the NHL as any young player in history (that he could count on one hand the guys that were more ready).

Honestly Sabres fans shouldn't feel terrible - they get Eichel - who I think is just a notch below - but is still an outstanding prospect.

The kick in the gut is for Coyote fans (all 12 of them) as I think that is where the big drop happens - from 2 to 3.
