Obviously Calgary needs another centre. The 6 we have in Adirondack isn't enough to go with the 5 in Calgary and 1 coming in soon.
Centre is definitely a problem spot...

No kidding. I mean, if they could upgrade that position for a young-ish guy and the deal makes sense (probably shipping out a center or two out at the same time), then I can see it. But adding a UFA? Why?

I really doubt they meant that Vermette would be a long term guy here. I get the impression he'd probably be a rental to help make the play offs.
