At least a few of the pro-ice girl people in this thread have enough intellectual honesty to acknowledge this.

Huh that's funny because I see them collecting a lot of ice shavings when they do their job.
they must be terrible at it or their choreographer hasn't taught them the Pat Benatar breast shimmy from Love is a battlefield yet.

It has more to do with hockey than the kiss cam, or the intermission games, or the promotional prizes they give out. They do clean the ice remember? Maybe we should get rid of everything and only have the game to watch. It's entertainment, get over it.

If it was only about hockey everyone would sit there in silence and watch the game. Its about entertainment and putting on a show and that's why you have things to entertain people during stoppages in play like giveaways, contests, and cleaning the ice. It needed to be cleaned anyway why not appeal to the majority.

Yeah let's get rid of Harvey the Hound as well. He has nothing to do with hockey. In fact heroin beer, loud music and food have nothing to do with hockey either. Let's get rid of those too. More hockey and less filler please.
Screw it, let's just get them to play all their home games in someone's backyard rink without allowing anyone to watch. If it's hockey that we want then that's all we should get.

Yes.
I mean really, the ice the last few games has been ####ing awful. I don't think the FI girls are doing a very good job anyway.

As I've mentioned earlier in this thread, if their job was merely about shoveling snow, then it could be done by an overweight middle-aged man wearing a tracksuit. Obviously the F&I girls are not overweight middle-aged men, and that's because their actual job has very little to do with shoveling snow; that's merely a pretext to get some pretty girls onto the ice for the enjoyment of the male fans in attendance.
Look, if anyone wants to make an argument supporting the continued existence of Ice Girls, knock yourselves out (a few have done so previously in this thread). But let's at least be honest with ourselves and acknowledge why they're really part of the program.

Why the hell would you have an overweight middle-aged male/or/female shovel the ice? Would they have the ability to shovel on skates? I willing to bet majority of these girls play some form of hockey/ringette/etc.

Basically it boils down to "sex sells" and the fact that society prefers to look at attractive people over ugly people. That is just part of nature.

What and exclude the hardcore Cat fanbase and really upset the anti mime crowd.

Um ok, maybe that's a plant issue, but the ice plant isn't very exclusionary

I don't get how a bunch of men can say what's right and wrong for the F&I girls.
If we are going to get all PC about this men have no right to say what is appropriate for a woman, period.

You should check the comments on the original opinion piece. Some women support the current state of the F&I girls and some women oppose it. I don't think there is a general consensus about the issue from either men or women.

If so, what the ####.

I should of green texted that one.
I re-read the thread and No I didn't see any "as a woman I feel" type comments. I don't really know who the woman posters on the site are other than the 3 obvious ones.
I could have missed it between the 5 or 6 pages of arguing how much the site makes( which was ridiculously off topic.

The various forms of entertainment on ice and off the ice certainly make for a more enticing environment. Without crowd excitement and energy going to a game would be akin to going to church (a place where I stopped visiting about 13 years ago.)

Actually I don't shave in the morning because I prefer the look of a bit of facial hair. Additional benefits include time not wasted/rash/dry skin. It's also become slightly fashionable, which I find a little annoying since I've always been this way.
As the husband of a woman who runs a women’s fashion blog you should know that... Wait, what you said is irrelevant as you're clearly biased by what your wife says. Yoga pants aren't fashionable. Riiight... LuluLemon has a market cap of 4.6 billion USD because women are lazy. What's the market cap of your wife's blog?
