but from a season perspective, even though embarrassing for now this is the best thing for Liverpool
they have until February to get their act together and the winner of this tournament gets in the CL next year

I find it quite odd to include JT. (I suppose, I can understand Cole).
Gerrard yes. But, in that breath, gotta include Beckham, Rio & Rooney.

JT always played well for England I thought, always seemed like he cared and I think on the field he was a good captain
Rio I think was a step below, and Rooney had too many incidents costing the team
Becks was definitely a miss, the free kick at OT vs Greece alone should have him on the list

Wayne Bridge, the Ferdinands, and celebrating trophies in full kit when he wasn't even on the bench -- leaders don't do nonsense like that.
Speaking purely of gameplay, I'd put Terry & Ferdinand at par when they were in their prime.
Rooney, sure, doesn't score at the same rate at the finals, but he GETS THEM THERE.

Predicting a fairly uninspiring display from Bayern today. But unfortunately they arent broadcasting it live which is total crap.

ya I did have to specify on the field
I think Rio at club level was probably better, but in tournaments JT was always a step above, I would kill for that combo again though with what we have now

So when do we play Bayern at the Emirates? February is it? Lovely.

Love the sense of humour. Unfortunately at this point though theres only 3 out of 8 teams that would be considered a favourable draw.

Myself, hard to find or even identify as a fan, where that captaincy was what pushed a team on, outside of their actual regular gamesmanship.
Quick example for me?

The draw is out!
Liverpool would have gotten Porto! I'm sure that makes the Reds feel better.

Liverpool have more important things to worry about now.
Such as a potential banana skin tie against Besiktas. Particularly with Demba Ba returning to Anfield.
Europa fixtures
Young Boys vs Everton
Torini vs Athletic Bilbao
Sevilla vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Wolfsburg vs Sporting Lisbon
Ajax vs Legia Warsaw
Aalborg vs Club Brugge
Anderlecht vs Dynamo Moscow
Olympiacos vs
Trabzonspor vs Napoli
Guingamp vs Dinamo Kiev

First the incredibly difficult athletic training schools for Olympic sports. Then their focus on entering the hockey market in the last couple years. Now this.
Why does this country feel like it has to dominate in everything? F'n chill out, geezus.

If you remember how "connected" we all felt as Canadians in 2010 during the Olympics, then you can see the value in being a sporting powerhouse.

TSN continues to eat away at Sportsnet's foundation. Once the NHL rights come up again, the'll likely swing that coup as well.
