Apologies if posted earlier in this thread, but this hit occurred about six weeks ago and the department of player safety didn't feel it was worthy of additional supplemental discipline...

This guy has got to go, he just did the same exact thing 6 weeks ago.
Like everyone else is saying, it really is a shame that this is what he does on random occasions. When he doesn't commit unsportsmanlike, uncalled actions like this, he is a great hockey player for a 3rd liner. But this guy is really drawing the line.

What grinds my gears is when he plays it off innocent.
Hey look it's a perfect example of why suspending to the injury is insanely stupid. Because Nichushkin wasn't injured there, Cooke gets off without any punishment, and is free to come back and absolutely maim Tyson Barrie in similar fashion.
Go NHL Department of Player Safety! Way to protect those players guys!

Listening to the Fan 960 this morning they mentioned that there is a mechanism in the new CBA protecting offending players from having their previous incident history being brought into the equation for a new suspension and that only incidents in the 18 months preceding the current incident can be looked at.
If true, this is pure rubbish. Karma must be drunk an lazy because it sure hasn't done its job with Matt Cooke - screw you Karma!
It's not new. The same provisions existed in the 2005-2012 CBA as well.
I was not in favor of signing Cooke when they did. I don't like him. I think he's what's wrong with the game. I think he's an idiot for wasting his ability to help a team - within the rules - by undeniably being a cheap shot artist. I think that's selfish and stupid. I also thought the Wild took too much risk for not enough reward. You knew that WHEN he did something dumb, his history would come to bear and his punishment would reflect that - further hurting the team.
This season played out like it should have - in that he proved his value to the team overall - other than he made it until game three of the playoffs as David Bannister before he Hulked out.
And now a good hockey player's (Barrie) season is likely over. And I've had to be talking about Matt *&&%!@ Cooke instead of the Wild playing a(n otherwise) great game, and getting back into a series, after getting their butts handed to them by the incredible MacKinnon and his merry band of Avs the game before.
Take Cooke's stupid, dangerous, BS, illegal, idiotic, selfish, stupid play out, and that's one great hockey game. But we cannot take Cooke's play out. I hate Cooke for that.
