Agreed. Just bringing odd facts to the table.
I know a couple hundred pilots, and not one have a sim in their house (That I know of)

If it were indeed that low, they passed quite a few airports where they could have potentially landed. (I don't knwo if each runway was capable of receiving a 777 though, and who knows if they were lit up at that time of night)
Large map or airports in the area:

That area is on the east side of the Island though, the military supposively tracked it at 30,000 ft on the west side.

Not to nitpick on this, but do you really know 200+ people so close that you know what's in their houses? I guess, I don't have a life...

Since the plane changed course and flew almost due west, the final destination possibilities are limited. India and Sri Lanka are the prime targets. Perhaps Parkistan and Iran are not out of the question.
Also, why flew an hour before changing course? Perhaps to be just outside of Malaysia territory that the KL airport would't be tracking it actively.

Nitpick away. I think it's very fair for you to do that. I should have said "that I know of" at the end of that to make my statement more reasonable.
I worked in aviation for 9 years. Have not been inside anywhere even close to 200 pilot houses, but if a pilot has a sim, they'll tell you about it. I've seen pictures of hundreds of pilots wives, families, cottage homes, vacations, private planes, etc etc...but never once have I seen or heard of a pilots homemade sim.
Not saying it's impossible. I've seen some online and know they exist. Just saying I've personally never met a pilot, and I know quite a few, who have a sim in their house.

I barely know a couple hundred people, let alone a couple hundred people all in the same profession. Lol
So what are the chances this whole mystery is really just a cluster of several governments and militaries who don't cooperate well, plus translation/communication issues amongst all their poor cooperation? How has it taken 4 days to figure out that the plane was actually a few hundred kms away from the last contact with Air traffic control? And last contact with civilian radar?

Keep in mind, his "home made simulator" could consist of nothing more than computer and joystick.

Yeah, from the article it sounded like a 3 monitor setup and such, nothing like those actual enclosed flight sims.

Not an enclosed sim, but more than a monitor and joystick

I know at least 200 pilots, and it's pretty rare that you find one that spends hours on any form of simulator at home after flying all day.
Lots of guys have Flight Sim on their computers, but even then the online community is pretty small.
I would hazard a guess that there are more pilots with personal airplanes than simulators.
Oh ya, and this story is really weird. I can see a plane being hard to see, but to disapear without a beacon or something is really unusual.

How do you guys know so many pilots?
Anyways, the last few pages have given some hope that they might be found alive somewhere.

I don't understand the whole cell phone issue. A friend of mine dropped his into a lake and when I called it, it still rang on my end.

I don't know if I know 200 of anything, besides humans.

I've worked in Moose Jaw at 15 wing for 23 years. We graduate 100's of pilots a year and interact with them on a daily basis. I have over 400 hrs as a pax in tutors as well, I've probably flown with at least 100 different pilots.
Humble brag.

Something really smells here.

I despise the whole notion of it out there but I'm starting to get the feeling that perhaps this plane was so off course it may have been shot down and there's a bit of a cover up going on. Nothing else really makes sense as to why this wouldn't yet be known.

I'm not sure about Langkawi, as that is a resort island that normally caters to smaller planes. But I think Penang international airport definitely can land a 777.
