Just a question... what does [GDT] mean? I haven't been on here that long so I'm just curious

Yes I know I signed up in 2009 but I haven't used this site until recently

Seems like a bit of an over reaction by Feaster over a prospects game...

To be fair, it has felt like this over the last 3 or 4 years.

Seems like a bit of an over reaction, although it's good to see that he's concerned about it.

Baertschi had a much better game tonight. Glad to see. Love the way this kid plays... He has that rare skill where he can put the puck on any teammate's stick at any moment. I've seen it so many times where he surprises his own teammates who were not expecting to get the puck from him. He sets up lots of guys but few of them are able to cash in... He needs to play with players who excel at putting the puck in the net more than anything. Cammalleri is the closest we have to that kind of player right now but I think Monahan could be that guy one day. Makes me wish in some ways the flames could have gotten Ty Rattie in the jaybow trade cause he and baertschi had awesome chemistry in junior and Rattie is that guy who is a pure sniper... But it would have meant no 1st round pick and therefore, no poirier... So maybe it's for the best.

Given that these guys played a tournament together before having any real ice time together, I was pleased with the chats by the bench strategizing, and seeing guys like Ramage and Knight voicing their opinions, followed by some strong shifts following. I like the character that seems to be emerging.

And the players in this game have had nothing to do with that. They didn't even play "that" bad. They lost by a goal, had a good third, and started the first off really well. I don't think his comments were warranted. It isn't a big deal, just another situation where IMO Feaster should have kept his mouth shut to the media.

I actually think that the results of this tourney were more important organizationally, than the regular season. When the flames expect to be in the playoffs, more of the players will have played in this tournament, than on the team that starts on opening night.

That said, I would have focused more on the positive. I think Feaster is trying too hard to impress the new boss.

At this level, we usually talk about guys needing to grow into their bodies. It's scary to think about what Kanzig could be when he matures.

Not a sharp game for the Fames, but at least they righted the ship in the third.

Thought Baertschi had a good game, but his linemates had no finish. Really noticed Poirier in this one (in a good way).

One thing I'll take away from this tourney was the play of this year's draft picks (first real chance to see them). We had a pretty good idea about Monahan, but Poirier has really impressed me. Kanzig has shown that his 3rd round selection was no reach at all. And Roy really surprised me with his size and speed - he could turn out to be a steal. Shame Klimchuk missed it, but he'll be a big part of next year's event.

I liked Knight's play - as someone said, not flashy, but he does a lot of little things well. Good on the forecheck as well.

Wotherspoon and Sieloff looked good, and Ramage was probably the biggest surprise.

I was always high on Ferland. He had a tough year last year, but he is clearly back on track and it will be interesting to see how he progresses this year.

Hopefully Granlund can carry his solid play into main camp.

Reinhart was also impressive.

Obviously the Flames wanted to put players in certain positions, but I would have liked to see Baertschi with Monahan - they could have put some of the big guns together at times, t see what they looked like.

Oh well, good tourney overall and I a glad I made the trip.
