The Calgary Police Service has stepped up its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two bodies in a southeast home. On Saturday afternoon, emergency crews were called to the 12000 block of Lake Erie Rd. S.E. following reports that a man and woman were in cardiac arrest inside a home.
When emergency crews arrived, two bodies were discovered and the pair was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the discovery, police indicated the CPS Homicide Unit would not be investigating the deaths and the home was not cordoned off as a crime scene. The Calgary Fire Department ruled out carbon monoxide and air quality issues as factors in the deaths,
On Sunday morning, the investigation became noticeably more intense with forensic teams photographing and bagging evidence while homicide investigators surveyed the home and the back alleyway.
Neighbours are shocked by the police presence in their community and the suspected deaths of two community members.
“It’s pretty strange alright because they were quiet people, everybody is quiet around here,” said Jeff Berg. “It’s sad too. I feel sorry for the kids.”
Police are not releasing many details about the deaths and the residence will remain secured for the foreseeable future.
Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon,
