Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC 52m Liverpool have made a £21m bid for Atletico Madrid's Brazilian striker Diego Costa.

Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC 51m
Liverpool's move for Costa has no bearing on the future of Luis Suarez. Position on that unchanged. No new bids.

Sounds like a perfect fit for Liverpool and replacement for Suarez.

Quote:
Atletico Madrid: Diego Costa, Falcao's Successor and La Liga's Most Hated Player
It’s easy to overlookAtletico Madridstriker Diego Costa as the successor toRadamel Falcao’s throne because Costa, a 24-year-old Brazilian international, is the most hated La Liga footballer by a significant distance.

Laced with a motor-mouth that crosses all lines of civility, a habitual need to cry wolf despite being a hulking 6’2” centre-forward and a schadenfreude-filled persona—how could you not detest Costa?
He’s a quadruple threat: possesses Jordi Alba–esque petulance, is a nutter like Pepe, brings the game into disrepute a la Luis Suarez and comes from the Joey Barton-school of talking trash.

Great. Another psychotic talent.

What is Rodgers thinking? Its not like hes getting a sweet discount on players like Costa because of their attitude problems nor has Rodgers shown any ability to calm or control problematic players.

reports that Dempsey flew to the US to talk with Everton

makes sense, with Chadli and Soldado he is surplus to requirements

So hey, since Spurs signed a striker can I now expect Wenger to spend from that supposed "war chest"?

great get for the MLS is true

Dempsey wasn't needed at Spurs, but he becomes (with my not admittedly great knowledge of the MLS) that league's best player I would think

Italian papers reporting Spurs big 50m Euros for Lamela and Pjanic from Roma

guessing Levy wants something in place for if Bale leaves, and I don't think he sells unless it all ready is, he has no problem waiting a year (see Luka "I love the bench" Modric)

Remy to Newcastle, hopefully for their sake the charges don't go through (and aren't true)

Can't see how Cornelius stays at Spurs. If he was at a big club with a legitimate shot at wining silverware and consistent top-flight European football, then maybe he stays.

If he's as good as some people think he is then for his continued development he needs to leave. A club like Spurs simply cannot turn down £80-85 million for a single player - few clubs could.

this one has real quotes though

http://www.theguardian.com/football/...senal-transfer

Quote:
He continues: "It is not as if I am asking to move to a local rival. And I would not consider moving to a club outside the Champions League. I have made my desire to move known in private various times and now it feels like the time for me to make it public.

...

"They gave me their word a year ago and now I want them to honour that. And it is not just something verbal with the coach but something that is written in the contract. I'm not going to another club to hurt Liverpool."
might have been closer to a CL spot if someone who "gave their all" wasn't getting suspended all the time

slap in the fact to the club/fans

Ya it's a huge slap. He's really burning his bridges here. He better hope an acceptable bid comes in for him from somewhere or it could be a pretty awkward season.

my guess is that later this month, Arsenal willingly up their bid, but Madrid realize Bale isn't going this summer and either match Arsenal or get it close enough that Liverpool would rather take it than strengthen a rival

Madrid need a big signing this summer, Suarez goes to Madrid

be interesting to see if FSG would then spend the money
