Oh I agree on that, but that's not how referees and some league executives seem to see things these days.

Cooke wasn't even suspended in his career prior to 2009, so you could say there was a 10 year period where he was a relatively clean player. Taking less penalties and avoiding suspensions for a couple years isn't much different.

He's put up less PIM last year than he did for 12 of his 15 seasons

I've always cheered for Boston in this matchup.
I love the Russian Gorilla style of hockey fighting. Shame it didn't last.

I'm not saying Iginla is Mike Gartner, but I don't really think he's slow.
He has always been a guy who, when playing well is moving his feet. He seems to be coasting a bit.

If Crosby is that upset he should just fight Chara. I'd love to see that

taking Bergeron off Crosby for 5 (1.5 of it on the pk) will help a bit

This is awesome.
I have to say though, the refs let things get out of hand with every close call going against Pit.

Crosby shouldn't even play with Chara. He'll get broken.

And then put up 16 PIM in 6 playoff games. Give it a bit more time until you can say he's really changed at all.
Torres had less PIM than Cooke this season, and he's still a dirty player as well. One or two years of generally clean play isn't enough proof to say he's changed.

I think the Marchand call was correct. More of a push than a reckless hit from behind, but still worthy of 2 minutes.
Not sure why Crosby is beaking at the biggest player in the league after recently taking off his jaw protector. Chara would sideline him for the rest of the year if he really wanted to chuck the knuckles.
Great game though, lots of action, lots of intensity. Love it.

This is how the league wants it. Even when Shanahan does his suspension videos, injury is a factor.

You know I wasn't sure who i was pulling for in this series. Reasons for both I guess.
Two periods in, it seems I am totally rooting for Pittsburgh.
Marchand and Chara are really bugging me.
Malkin chucking 'em! good stuff
