He is absolutely right in that the media drums up these sorts of factoids that are completely irrelevant. Nobody on their current roster was on that team so it's useless.

The game seven point was pretty stupid, especially when you consider how many game sevens veterans like Richards, Carter, Williams, Penner, Fraser, Regehr, Scuderi, Greene, and Sutter himself have been it.
I bet the Kings have actually been involved in more game sevens than the Sharks when you think about it.

YOU LOSE!
All time, both teams have played in 7 game 7s.
The Sharks are 5-2 (2-0 since Thornton arrived)
The King are 3-4
And found another interesting stat: of all 7 gm series in which the home team won the first 6, the home team is 8-8 in the game 7.
Fingers are crossed BIG TIME. I have no doubt that the sharks can beat LA, but I also have no doubt that LA can beat SJ. Hellova series...

I think he meant more along the lines of the players on the team. Not the organizations.

I'm rooting for the Kings because of Reggie, but I wouldn't be too choked if San Jose won. I think they have an awesome fanbase, and they deserve to have some playoff success after all the failures in the past. As long as either the Kings or Sharks take out Chicago/Detroit, I'm happy either way.

It doesn't matter if the Kings haven't played in a game 7 in a while. Their team ploughed through the playoffs last year and that's why. They're playing at home for this game 7, where they are really good.
This series goes to show how tough it is to play in SJ...

Even wronger :-)
****The Sharks have far more Game 7 experience than the Kings. Both teams have reached a seventh game seven times, but when you consider the Kings began playing in 1967 and the Sharks in 1991, you see the difference.
San Jose is 5-2 in its Game 7s; the Kings are 3-4.
Scott Gomez has played in nine, count ‘em, nine Game 7s and is 6-3 over his career; Brad Stuart has played in six and is 3-3. The Sharks will have seven people in the lineup who have played in at least two Game 7s; the Kings will have four.

Not that I think these kind of stats have any bearing at all...

Nevertheless it was a little rude how he shut that guy down. I don't know if there is a history between them (maybe the guy is the LA version of Eric Francis) or not but it was kind of rude how he cut him off and then embaressed him further at the end. When Tortorella talks to media like that he's called an A-hole but when Darryl Sutter does it it's great. IMO it's a little disrespectful in both cases.

Remember that blonde from last year that sat behind the Devils bench? She's back!
Right behind the bench surrounded by sharks.

This is the first time the Kings have faced elimination since game six of the first round of 2011 (which they lost to the Sharks). Five straight playoff series where they never had a "must-win" game.

That run they had last year was incredible in this day and age.

Niemi's been solid though. That goal wasn't really indicative of his play.
