I don't know if it was as evident on TV, but in the building, his big hit on Stoner completely re-energized a sleepy building and listless team. Yes, it was probably charging, but even if he had gotten a penalty, it probably would have had the same effect.

Bottom line, Minny came in and lulled the boys to sleep, as expected. Yet they managed to hang in there and get it done. Was that because of Aliu? No. But he helped. He brings something this team desperately needs.

The challenge for the coaching staff is finding out how to get it from him regularly.

Not that I'm advocating bringing him back, but the Flames are awful on the dot without Blair Jones in the lineup. How bad?

Jones in: 50% (exactly)
Jones out: 41.1%

Does this have much of an impact? The season is still too short to tell, but the Flames record when winning less than 45% of faceoffs in a game is 3-6-1. Correlation is not causation and it's not even close to the main thing wrong with the team, but I still think it's worth mentioning as puck possession is important for a team built around skill.
