They really should do the plot from knights of the old republic, or at least loosely base the plot on it. That game was better than all three prequels put together.

I would love to see them do the post Knights of the Okl Republic stories. The rise of Darth Bane could make for an amazing anti-hero movie.
And it leads nicely into the Star Wars movies as you'll understand the arrogance of the Jedi and the rule of two.

I actually think he could do a great job with it, even if this news is the harbinger of the great Nerd War, a war to end all wars which may indeed spell the end of all civilization.
Should be a good movie, though.

It's weird the same guy is doing Star Wars and Star Trek, it's just bizarre. I feel like one or the other is going to suffer because of it. Also, Abrams sucks, so theirs that.

Abrams would do a great job with the series. It's the writing I am more concerned with. Keep it closer to Empire and A new Hope and as far away from The mis-adventures of Jar-jar and Anikan as possible.
Saw someone suggest Simon Pegg should take over as C3PO, not sure if that'll happen since Anthony Daniels seems keen on reprising his role, but Pegg would be a perfect replacement if need be imo.
After a bevy of emails and phone calls, the formalities have been wrapped up, and at long last everyone can exhale and properly share the word with an excited Internet. Yes, J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, the first of a new series of Star Wars films to come from Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy. Abrams will be directing and Academy Award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay.
