Sorry but when your starting QB just lays the ball on the field at a point in the game where you had all the momentum and could of started to put it away....no way can the coach get any blame. The whole game changed on that one play.
PENALTIES was the reason we didn't get the first place in the West Division, and now PENALTIES killed us again in this again. Stupid penalties on roughing the kicker was the difference because Edmonton scored a TD after that. Then in the 4th quarter when they started moving the ball. 2nd down and 1 and we got the freaking boneheaded penalty again with too many men. I can't blame Huf, DD, Chris Jones on any of those penalties. It was just the case of stupid undiscipline plays by the players.
Not sure what is wrong with Drew Tate today. He was very conservative at the beginning and kind of hurt him a bit. Tate is a good QB when he is not cautious. I can't blame Burris for his ineffectiveness because the OLine didn't give him a lot of time. Then when he does have the time, the receiver either drop the ball or just ran the wrong route. Cornish was excellent today and I can't believed he wasn't use on some of the screen or drop passes. Nik Lewis getting hurt early really blows. He tried running his routes but due to his injuries, Eskies defense close up on him.
I thought defense played well except for some bad tackling that really hurt them. I don't think Ricky Ray played the well. All he has to do today was throw the ball at his receivers and those guys made some plays.
It sucks that we lost the game but it sucks the way we lost it. This season is so frustrating because of the way they played. We are a lot better team than any of the other 5 teams that made the playoffs but the undiscipline, the turnovers killed us.

3 f-ing huge plays cost us the game. Tate fumble, contacting the kicker and the too many men in the huddle penalty in the 4th. The esks offence sucked ass.
Seeing one more week of football would have been nice but we would have gotten killed by BC next week anyways.
oh yeah and Jone's 3 man rush defence f-ing sucks. Fire his ass along with Dave Dickenson's too. both pathetic coaches. They make Brent Sutter look like Bob Johnson.

Typical stamps, come out strong then throw the game away with mistakes and sloppiness. It'll be interesting to see the QB situation next year. Also excited to see what Cornish can do with a full year as starter!
So frustrating especially since we've seen this story before. The Burris-era ends with only 1 Grey Cup. This team could and should have won a few more. Reminds me of the Flames of the late '80's / early '90s. Tons of potential but choked when it mattered.
So much talent, such little discipline and attention to detail. This should have been a big year, we should have ran away with the west. Instead turnovers, penalties, horrid defence leaves us for next year. Frustrating that this happens on a yearly basis, its hard to believe the season is over yet again, and yet again the same way.
Location: In a land without pants, or war, or want. But mostly we care about the pants.
Exp:
Coaching was not the problem on defence. The problem is the personnel, specifically the d-line; all year long Jones had to come up with schemes to hide the inadequate rush of his linemen. Against the run, they were good, against the pass... well, there's a reason that the Stamps had the least sacks in the league and around half of what Winnipeg and BC could muster.
Anyway, the main problem with the team as a whole was, as usual, mental errors. Bad penalties and bad turnovers cost them all year, and lost them this game. The Esks didn't make any big mistakes, and Calgary did. As usual.

Jon Cornish was a beast. Reynolds was one of my favorite in the Stamps and watching this guy play i am not as ticked off now. The guy can do everything and it's hard to bring him down. If we have 2-3 Cornish type of players today, we would won the game. He is the offensive Stamps payer today.
On defense, I have to give the nod to Safety Demetrius Morley. He too was awesome today with 2 QB sacks and great hit on Messam that put him out of the game.
Special Team: Kicker Rene Paredes did what they asked him to do and did it well.

Yeah the turning point was probably the Tate fumble but the roughing the kicker penalty IMO sealed the deal as it was a totally unnecessary play that handed 7 points to the Eskimos. Lack of discipline has been an ongoing issue going back to the Higgins years. Outside of 2008 the Stampeders have beat themselves over and over, year after year. I like Huff but he's obviously failed miserably in bringing accountability to this selfish group of chokers.

Unfortunately CHOKE is sort of the motto of Calgary professional teams. I watched like 5 minutes(was watching NFL) and could see it was the same old same old. Turned the channel, checked the score later, saved myself the annoyance of watching the umpteenth rerun with the same plot.
I keep thinking back the Edmonton's last drive or two in the first half, when Calgary's defence was lined back 12-15 yards off of the line of scrimmage. Specifically one play, where the Edmonton receiver runs Ten yards, turns around, catches the pass, AND ONLY THEN does the Calgary defender covering him move for the first time on the play.
Calgary's defence was playing well, except for that period where they switched into the prevent. They might as well have walked off the field, and let Edmonton WALK into the endzone.
Also, not like it really mattered at that point, but why were the commentators decrying Calgary for not being able to stop Edmonton from scoring a touchdown (three times) with a minute to go in the game? Calgary's best hope of winning the game is to let Edmonton score a touchdown immediately. While not likely, scoring two touchdowns with a minute left on the clock is a lot more likely than trying to score a touchdown and a field goal with 10-15 seconds left on the clock.
Can you recover an onside kick after a safety? If you can, then Burris should have made sure he was sacked in the end zone. (actually, Calgary should have challenged the spot, since it looked like it actually should have been a safety to me)
