I am a field tech with TELUS. I dont benefit from from 'pimpin' TELUS TV. Although as I am a share holder... it does help the stock price.

yes the xbox should have updated. Are your other boxes running 2.0? check in the system info to see if your xbox has already been updated.

Sorry if it's been mentioned in this thread already, but what exactly does the update include?

Slight update, I contacted Telus regarding getting update from my current setup of 1 HD 2 SD to 3 HD 1 SD.

I told them that the website tool says I qualify for the 3 HD and she confirmed that it said the same thing on her end. We booked for a tech to come out on the 28th of this month, which was the only day I could commit to as it's one of those we'll be there between 8am and 4pm.

At any rate it was pretty quick and easy to get moving in this. Will post another update once they come out here on the 28th.

Exactly, so your current position within Telus does not involve supporting issues on a message board, so it could be argued that anything you do here is not as a Telus employee, but as a person using resources of their company in a manner not sanctioned by the company. If you were paid to do that though, then of course it would be fully sanctioned by the company, and people would have reason to expect the same professionalism that full time Telus customer service reps give to people who call in.

Not saying what you are doing is bad, I think it is awesome, but was just playing a little devil's advocate in pointing out what photon might have been concerned about. Of course I submitted the post without reading that he had already responded, so my post was pretty much irrelevant well before the time I hit the button.

however from a liability standpoint he is still acting on behalf of the company, whether he is paid for it or not. He still has standards to live up to.

i think if psnap and other telus employees answer questions about telus in a way that would answer them openly in public, they're safe. checking an address for what type of service is available there is also a relatively benign thing to do. however i would draw the line at actually contacting people, changing things, or even setting up contact. i advocate because i think the tv is amazing.

I am pulling a steady 28mb on newsgroups with 30-35mb spikes on smaller then 200mb files.

I even decided to record 3 HD streams and watch an SD while downloading, still didn't move off of 28mb.

So far very impressed with the service.

So I just called Telus and had kind of a fun experience. Are the CSRs in different departments competing against each other for new service installs?

I called and got a guy in the TV area and this is what he offered me:
The Home phone with 5 calling features
Optik High Speed internet (15mps) - all that is offered in my area.
Optik TV your pick
One HD PVR, one HD reciever and one xbox
First 3 months everything for $89.00
next 3 months $117.00
then $140.00 for the rest of the contract.

However because he was in TV, he couldn't keep my phone number.

So I talked to someone in the phone area because they do the Shaw transfers and they offered me the exact same package but NO xbox for the following prices:
first 6 months $81.00
next 6 months $111.00
final 24 months $149.00

Anyone from TELUS post on here? Can I do better? Why can't I get the xbox through the phone department?

They heard you like Spurs so they're trying to give you the Del Boy treatment.

How long does it take to get service up and running? I'm on shaw for all three and am conveyed about downtime when I cancel shaw. I'm paying 86 with shaw for what I could be getting for $45 with telus. The only thing scaring me is the contract (for hdpvr).

Also; can anyone else get me my avail service levels? (looks like whiteout's on a ban).

You can call in and have TELUS cancel your shaw on your behalf and transfer your number. It all should be done day of install... so there wont be down time.

Why is the contract scaring you? You dont need to be on a contract.

Check telus.com for what is available to you...

My PVR on all receivers finally worked! I found out you have to unplug the receiver (or Xbox) to make it work! haha. Its a great feature though!
