Police officer needlessly harasses two young ladies

Reading stuff like this...I'd hate to be a cop, and I used to want to be when I was younger. Every decision you do questioned, always having to be perfect and spot on and not having a bad day.
I'd hate that kind of pressure.
Yeah, there are power hungry, tin pot tyrant, jerkwad cops out there, but the majority aren't. It's a job I can't imagine doing, and wouldn't want anymore.
It's not for everyone, but I think that's the way it should be. Cops SHOULD have their decisions questioned. If they can't handle that, they need to find a different line of work. And I'm not anti-copper by any stretch of the imagination.

"A sheriff's spokesman insists the officers were making use of lights and sirens, that they knocked and announced themselves before entering, and fired only when they encountered Guerena crouching in the hall pointing a gun at them. Ms. Guerena said she called 911. 9 On Your Side confirmed that paramedics arriving in an ambulance were not allowed onto the scene, and were kept waiting more than an hour before SWAT officers finally turned them away, reporting that Guerena was dead. Investigators initially said that Guerena fired at the SWAT officers, but later withdrew that statement and said that he had not fired."
Looks like that crew went there hoping this very thing would happen.
They got what they wanted (and deserved).
While I don't agree with the actions of the people involved, I was at the Lincoln memorial today and was annoyed by people talking loudly (wish someone would have body slammed the fat sow and her off spring running rampant around the memorial actually), let alone dancing, I don't see anything there that necessitates people being thrown to the ground and cuffed. That said, it's a very short clip, so there may well have been numerous attempts to have the situation end without any arrests at all.

I dunno, if I blatantly and repeatedly ignored what a cop was telling me to do and then resisted arrest, I would fully expect to be thrown to the ground and I would deserve it. What did you expect the the cop to do after the guy resisted, just shrug his shoulders and walk away.

You don't have to do what a cop tells you to do if you are not breaking any law to begin with.

You are correct, however in the video they were breaking the law
Whether you agree with the law or not is beside the point, I don't agree with the law, but it was already fought and lost in court and on appeal. The police have a responsibility to enforce the law, not determine and make a decision on if they should or not. Even if you believe the police can opt to ignore the law (which realistically they can) it only take one to uphold the law, and the rest have to follow. Not to mention it recently caused a stink in the court system, hence the protest.

Which law?
I'd be interested to hear what you think the crime was, since obviously the cops couldn't come up with one. They were not acting on law, they were acting on instinct.
The US is just a sad place for human rights these days, and the saddest part is how commonly people want to make excuses for that.

Would it really have been that hard to listen to the cops there? I mean really, if they were breaking the law or not, they were being Grade A a-holes. What rights were being violated, the right to do what ever the frack I want?

I agree. They should do whatever the authorities want them to.
Another example here, where women in Egypt protested with men in Tahrir square when they knew they it was frowned upon. They might not have technically broken any laws (anti-demonstration laws are currently being written) but they were clearing antagonizing law enforcement. I feel sorry for the cops that were incited into enforcing justice against them too.
Great peril comes to a society that doesn't understand the slippery slope of peaceful demonstration.

That's what gets people into trouble.
There are ways to challenge police authority and I would suggest in the "heat of the moment" is probably not the best.
Further, most people are ignorant of the law and the authorities police possess. The sheer number of threads on CP with anecdotal advice from sources without any legal background is evidence of this.
The fact of the matter is, if you attract police attention, you are, in all likelihood, "breaking the law".
