Cool cool, and they get to do this all tax free with the endorsement of the state? What a world.

We attended a northern Baptist church. Their backward philosophy says that women cannot have a leadership role. My wife was choir director which wasn’t popular. It led to us leaving the church.

Pope Francis has formally approved allowing priests to bless same-sex couples, with a new document explaining a radical change in Vatican policy by insisting that people seeking God's love and mercy shouldn't be subject to "an exhaustive moral analysis" to receive it.
|
Quote:
The new document repeats that rationale and elaborates on it, reaffirming that marriage is a lifelong sacrament between a man and a woman. And it stresses that blessings should not be conferred at the same time as a civil union, using set rituals or even with the clothing and gestures that belong in a wedding.

It's like watching Dungeons & Dragons players discuss the rules while going into the minutia. So f'ing ridiculous and useless, these religious creeps are basically larping in their imaginary world.

An Iranian rapper has been sentenced to death in Iran for "corruption on earth", basically supporting the women's freedom movement. Islam is truly disgusting and backwards, it must be terrible to live in fear of these religious lunatics

On Nov. 2, 2022, Salehi appeared in a video blindfolded and with a swollen face as he apologized for encouraging security forces to abandon their posts. Another forced apology video was released that December, showing Salehi speaking to someone who resembles an interrogator; the camera angles appeared to mimic those from his music video for “Divination.”
After more than a year behind bars, Salehi was released on bail in late 2023. Days later, he posted a video to his YouTube account in which he explained his forced confessions and alleged that he had been tortured.
“They broke my arms and my legs. They were hitting my face and my head, so at first I tried to cover myself with my hands, and they broke my fingers,” Salehi said.
He was arrested again less than two weeks later for “publishing lies and disturbing the public mind after publishing some false and undocumented comments online,” the judiciary’s media outlet reported.

The family of a Vancouver woman who was forced to transfer hospitals before she could receive medical assistance in dying (MAID) is suing the province of British Columbia and Providence Health Care, saying the health authority's policy to ban MAID in its facilities violates patients' Charter rights.
|
Quote:
She was being treated at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, but could not have the procedure to end her life there because the hospital is operated by Providence — a Catholic health organization that opposes the practice.
|
Quote:
"In the course of her transfer, Ms. O'Neill was first moved to a commode. The last time her parents saw her conscious and to say their final goodbyes was while Ms. O'Neill sat on the commode. She was then heavily sedated for the ambulance transfer," reads the statement of claim.
"During the transfer, Ms. O'Neill was writhing and moaning in pain and had to receive a further injection of pain medication. She spent her last hours unable to see, hear or feel any of the people who had gathered to support her.
"Ms. O'Neill did not regain consciousness after being sedated for the ambulance trip."
She died on April 4, 2023.

Why the #### are public dollars going to support ghoulish practices like this? Canadians have a right to die with dignity, but due to an organization that rapes and abuses children and protects the perpetrators, these poor suffering victims are left to die in anguish. And somehow, our tax dollars support this. I'm sure some will get used to settle the lawsuits, too, which is fan-####ing-tastic.
Can we please get rid of this archaic nonsense already? No religious institution should be publicly funded with tax dollars. That we have education and health managed by these evil organizations happy enough to indoctrinate children and let people die in horrible pain is tragic and infuriating in this modern world. Unreal people still go to church every Sunday to endorse these monstrous views.

Couldn't agree more. It blows my mind that we have a catholic health care authority here in Alberta that runs a significant number of hospitals.
What rationale is there for catholic hospitals?

Make sure you blame people who attend Catholic churches and schools. Too many Calgarians financially support this medieval nonsense to the detriment of others. It's blatant stupidity and it hurts people.

I’m trying to think of one outside the standard stuff any hospital offers. It seems like their only point is to restrict, not enhance.

Yeah. I don't buy that. I went through the Catholic system and the last thing they did was indoctrinate me or anyone that I knew.
I think one of the best things they did was have a class on Religious education. Learning about other Religions helps one to understand Foreign cultures.
If it was an 'indoctrination scheme' then it was wildly incompetent and ineffective.

If they're essentially the same as public schools why do we need them and the duplicated administration and bureaucracy?
