I am no insider but had small tidbit to share with all today.
Lucky to run into Jarome at the Dome while at the SH Kipper trophy viewing event this afternoon.
Got 5 seconds to ask him if Tij would be happy a Flame. He seemed very surprised I would ask that but responded with a giant smile and an emphatic yes!
Dumb question to ask Jarome but wanted to see his reaction. Sometimes you get the real story when polite but blunt.
Come on Conny. Get us at least one more midrange 1st round pick so we can make it happen!

I don't think it's a dumb question at all.

Tij or bust. I am 100% bloodlines on this. Give me someone who was raised by Jarome freaking Iginla any day of the week. I don’t care if you have someone “ranked” higher. You are wrong

The character will never be in question. So will the shot.

Good thing that both of his kids name is 3 letter, no way anyone would spell that wrong.

That's cute you think that.

I saw Tij currently ranked around #16 using a compilation of different rankings. The Flames are currently slotted to draft #13 based on current standings. It's looking more and more like he might not just be an emotional pick, but a logical pick at that point, especially considering how he has climbed through the season.

I'm confident (so long as his play continues at its current trajectory) that he'll end up going top 10.
The scouts know how his dad played and the give-o-####e meter he had every game, the pedigree behind the name Iginla will give him a leg up on the kids close to him in ranking.

All I can get

The teams that pick immediately preceding the Flames will attempt to extract concessions from Conroy if he's seen to openly covet Tij. Strong likelihood the Flames will have to trade up if that's the case.
The Company Line will probably be "Tij is one of a number of forwards that we've targetted, and obviously we'd be happy with any of them."

So all the better to have three 1sts and 10+ selections in the draft to make such a move happen.

If Tij is even 80% of his dad, that’s still a 1000 point player.
I’d love to know how many other 1000 point players people think are lurking in this draft.

Passing on him to watch him succeed with another franchise would be gut wrenching.

Once this winning streak is over we will be back to a top 10 pick again, and as FlamesAddiction mentioned I have only seen Tij going in the teens in the mock drafts. So he should be available.
I wonder how the amateur scouts have it all ranked. Jarome went 11th...

I'd be bummed but could handle and enjoy watching him thrive in the NHL on a random eastern team. If he ends up a star on a rival, I'd be sick.
