I think Brady will be more than happy taking the one seed in the AFC then holding some record. We all should know who the better QB all-time is anyway, records be damned.

They'd be Super Bowl favourites with an average D. An "off game" by Peyton should be enough to win when your "off game" is 289 yards and 2 TD's. Unfortunately if your D can't generate turnovers and routinely gives up 10 minute TD drives on the ground your record setting QB doesn't get to touch the ball.

No loss is a good loss, but Denver has a couple games to get it straightened out before playoffs.

It's been a problem all season though. Don't see why it's going to change now. I've lost hope that the defense is going to shape up at this point; especially when it's not against quality offenses anyway.

I commented that he had 46 at that point, hardly a play by play. It's a pretty impressive record. Relax.

Chargers have looked good lately, might be too late for them for this year though. If Denver makes it to the SB, their defense will have to pick it up because Peyton wont be ringing up 40 points in an outdoor game in NY in Febrauary especially if they go up against the Seahawks/49ers...

Yep. Not worried. Not at all convinced New England's schedule is going to allow an easy walk to the #1 seed. Also not convinced a game in Foxboro for the AFC championship is a sure win for the Pats.
That said, Denver's D was their own worst enemy last night. I mean a neutral zone infraction on a punt inside the opponent's 10? Who does that?
They'll get it straightened out.

Yes they will have to pick it up. I don't think the 49ers get anywhere near the Super Bowl this year though.
San Diego played a fantastic game last night...and Mike McCoy coached a fantastic game. The 12 man challenge blew me away. Very smart. I'm guessing not all teams count the defense every play like that.
I really, really hate the Chargers, but man...Philip Rivers is a football player. Leader. Lover of the game. I feel like I'm Wes Mantooth and Rivers is Ron Burgundy coming out of the bear pit.

I don't believe this for a second, but would be interesting if true

Multiple sources tell me Teddy Bridgewater has contemplated returning to school. No decision has been made at this point
|
I thought Mariota staying in school was a mistake but this would be an even bigger mistake. And frankly, if he does decide to come back I can see Mariota reversing his decision because then he'd be the #1 QB.

Wow...this is quickly going from a strong QB class to a weak one. Clowney and Manziel would be ecstatic.

Anyone care to share an opinion on Alex Smith? I think he has actually beem playing quite well of late. I don't think he is an elite level guy, but he seems to be moving past game manager. In the AFC Manning, Brady, Rivers, Luck are clearly better. Than you have Tannehill, Roethlisberger, Flacco, Daulton and Smith in the next group and I think Smith has played the best of that bunch this season. He is having a career season, I am hoping that maybe he can be a bit like Rich Gannon. Decent size and mobility, with an average arm, who developed into a good QB after being in the league for a lot of seasons. Smith is unique because most number one overall QB's make it or bust out by now. I don't think too many stick around to start 120 games as an average player at the position. Which is something Smith might yet do.

I am a Chiefs fan, so this may be a little biased. But he's exceptional at making good decisions. (winning decisions). He's got a below average receiver arsenal though. Losing Baldwin, after drafting him so high really hurt the offence. Smith also has good instincts and is a deceivingly fast runner. I was stoked when we got him and he's continued to make me smile. We need to draft a big Tight End next year and sign another WR. (Fitzgerald?) That would bring the Chiefs to the upper echelon of teams.

I'm not sure what to think about Smith. I think his Niner years really warped him. He has all the tools to be a good QB but absolutely no confidence. He's the absolute king of check downs.

I'd like to point out that outside of Dwayne Bowe, Alex Smith has really poor pass catching weapons. I mean his second and third best receivers are running backs (Charles and McCluster). And maybe his pure numbers don't blow you away (2,900 yards, 18TD, 6INT), but some of the guys who are having "better" statistical seasons include Matt Ryan (3,600 yards, 21/13) Carson Palmer (3,400 yards, 20/17), Ryan Tannehill (3,300 yards, 20/14) and RGIII (3,200 yards, 16/12). Would anyone actually say those guys are playing better than Smith?
Likewise his numbers are slightly better (or at least similar) to Russell Wilson (2,800 yards, 23/7), but before the Seahawks loss last week Russell Wilson was mentioned as maybe the only guy (along with Nick Foles) who could beat Peyton for MVP. I think as Joe Flacco showed great QBs or perceived great QBs are not necessary to win the Super Bowl, smart QB play (and luck) can just as easily win when the team surrounding is very good. I look at the Bucs and think if they had Alex Smith all year and that kind of consistent play, they'd probably be in the playoff hunt right now.

Smith never had the same OC in back to back years in his entire NFL career.
as a Chiefs fan I'm stoked with what we have.
