Is an out-of-the-blue team like Anaheim a spot for Coleman? Trying to think of a team where he could end up with Tampa and Dallas possibly out on him.

So would I.
Doubt that offer is on the table at all.

Maybe San Jose for Coleman and one of our depth d-men too? Or Whitecloud. Coleman will help them next year too. Good vet presence for their young team.

I have a feeling LA might be trying to stockpile assets and shed cap to take a run at Thomas....maybe Thomas and Parayko.
They own their own 1sts the next 3 seasons, now they have 3 2nds and 2 thirds this year.
Also have Clarke and Brzustewicz. Blues likely have interest in George too as they don't have a goalie in their pipeline behind Hofer.
Could 2026 1st + 2027 1st + 2026 2nd + Clarke + George get you Thomas and Parayko?

*frustrated* but hoping to eat my words. If this is an experience thing for Conroy - then what are Maloney and Nonis here for?
|
Why do you think this is true? What evidence is there that Conroy doesn't know what he can and can't do?

Don't think that likely.
Flames are playing chicken with x number of teams to see if they can get Kadri traded without retention, which would up the offers to move Coleman with retention.
They've had this game plan for weeks and they're seeing it through.
Is that fact? Nope. Don't know but it's where I see it.

It's getting too late is the day to turn around and make deals with retention if they've been talking about no retention for weeks. COL already filled their needs. Other team's will too.

Conroy did make the move he needed to make with Andersson. The Weegar move happened because a team met the price. Those moves might not happen if Conroy isn't known as a GM who sticks to his price, so I'll be fine if a little disappointed with no more moves today.

Yes, media and our insiders certainly make it sound like Conroy had a deal and ownership kiboshed it because of retention. This either means ownership will not retain on Kadri at all or the price of retention is not in alignment between Conroy and ownership. When I say Conroy, I also group in dumbass Maloney and Nonis since they are here to help him with their "vast experience".
We were also only 1 of 2 or 3 noted sellers since the New Year....had more time than most to sell and yet we are left here 2.5 hrs from deadline seemingly left scrambling and potentially holding the bags. Yes I understand we don't HAVE to sell because they aren't expiring. Still opportunity missed.
I like Conroy and want him here for a long time. Same can't be said for ownership and his 'mentors' - Maloney and Nonis.

I have a feeling people are going to be greatly disappointed with the Coleman return IF it happens.

Pretty much expecting a 2nd + 3rd at best if the trade happens.

Just trade the players. The GM is competent and the market is what it is.

If you're getting a 2nd and 3rd for Coleman then you just wait until next deadline and use the last retention spot on Kadri.

Soon the 2026 second round will just be Conroy listing off names at the podium for an hour.
