I saw that it still showed up in maps at the airport, upon closer inspection though it is showing as permanently closed.

Tried Chick-Fil-A for the first time in Vegas this spring. Thought it was pretty average to be honest

Okay. Well, I’ll do my best in the future to stay abreast of all the comings and goings of airport fast food options and no longer assume that just because a place still shows up on Apple Maps that it is still in business.
Regardless, good riddance then.

If there’s one thing Canadians go absolutely insane for, it’s extremely mid American chains.

All chains are pretty mid compared to the hype, but I find Chik-Fil-A to be pretty solid. I also find that their locations and service tends to just be really well run...clean, polite, quick. Atleast that's in the US...the Canadian versions never seem to translate over as well.
At the very least it looks like both them and Krispy Kreme will have much better locations. The previous ones were poorly chosen imo.

Well, that’s because almost all chains are mid and the only time it’s weird is when they actually have hype.

No idea what the ownership structure of these ones are, but the previous iteration in Canada, the franchise fee for whatever company (not Krispy Kreme) bought those rights from Krispy Kreme, to sell off them as franchise, for was astronomical and no owner who paid in to that company could realistically make money.
There's one still in Surrey but that's got to be a different setup.
Regardless, a top notch treat and glad it's down south. ChikFilA is solid consistent sandwich as well...Krispy Kreme for me is more of destination that ChikFilA for us.
Does one know exactly where they Krispy Kreme is going to be? By Schanks or further north?

I agree. When I was in South Carolina I preferred Bojangles over Chick-Fil-A

Franchise fees can be massive. Swiss Chalet requires $1.3mm unencumbered cash min.

That's the one thing I really respect about Chick-fil-A. The franchise costs like $30k, and they mostly go to existing workers from other restaurants who have worked their way up. The company pays for all the build out costs as well. The downside of that is that you don't really "own" the restaurant and can't sell the building/assets (since the franchisee didn't pay for them). But the annual cash flow can be significant, and it's a great "move-up" opportunity for someone who started working in fast food to end up with a very significant income.
I suspect that's one of the secrets to their service, which is generally very good. The average fast-food worker has no chance of saving enough money to every buy a franchise in their brand (it's generally like $1MM, which you can't save making $15/hr).

Religious freakos can't even be greedy.
It's $15K to start a franchise in Canada, I'm opening 10! Praise be to Allah!

The other catch is you can only open 1.
Still a great deal.
Although I think there's a chance "praise be to Allah" in your application might be an issue...

I was in High School when Krispy Kreme came to Sunridge, I still remember some friends cutting class to go wait in line to pick up a couple boxes. Even my 16/17 year old self couldn't finish 1 doughnut because it was so sweet and heavy, the experience left me with no desire to try one again.
*as a side note at 16 I could smash down 12 Tim's doughnuts on my own in about 20 minutes without flinching, so I found it pretty dismal performance by KK that they were able to make a doughnut I found unappetizing. and yes I was a skinny tall 150lbs kid, not a clue where it all went back then.

Grandin and beaverbrook? Those would both be a hell of a walk at lunch if that's the idea you're thinking. You gotta be closer than that to expect a high school lunch rush.
