I with they sold a docked only version...I never play my Switch away from the TV. Why not give us options? They sold a mobile only version.

I'm just saying that the games on the Switch 2 shouldn't look that different from the PS5/Xbox versions. We haven't seen any big leaps in graphics from PS4-PS5, compared to PS3-PS4, it's mostly been performance modes or ray tracing

According to this article 20% of Switch users play docked most of the time. I don’t know what percentage play docked all the time but I’m guessing it’s a lot lower. Probably not enough to produce a new SKU.
The Switch Lite was cheaper so it targeted mobile only and budget buyers. So kids and their parents.

I took a quick look, and switch screens are $50 or so, but bulk cost would be a lot less, so it probably wouldn't be worth a new design to save $50 in costs.
I also basically always play docked, so I don't think it's a bad idea and I'd probably go that way if it existed. I guess they could sell bare bones with no controllers, as those add to the price too.

We’re also a “mostly docked” family, but it sure is nice to be able to play Zelda and other games on a flight or in a hotel room.

I'm the same. I play docked when I'm at home, but do like the option to bring it travelling so I can play on the plane. OLED vs LCD isn't a big deal to me.

I almost wanted to get another dock for my RV. Right now it’s cool to be able to play it while I’m out glamping. Myold Xbox one s is being used as a gaming blue ray / DVD player at the rv as well.
But I’ll wait and get the switch 2 and keep that one at home and use my Switch Oled for the rv

Really hope the controllers aren’t just pure garbage quality. The system is targeting kids, you should make it be able to stand a bit of… what kids do…

There are rumours that there will be Hall effect sticks in the joycons, which would reduce drift. Not sure if that helps make them kid-proof though.

I'm excited. Too bad it will be so hard to get at launch, and I don't want to make the effort to get it early. Hope I can get one by the fall some time.
At least this time around, there's no chip shortage issue.

There's a lot to like about Switch 2. I don't see any reason why I won't be getting this. We are a family of 3, and all of us have enjoyed (and still enjoy) the original Switch since we got it on launch day way back in 2017.
I'm not sure if I'll go full nerd and try and reserve one for launch day this time around. I don't remember it being too difficult in 2017, but it was still an unproven concept at the time, in the wake of Wii U. Different can of worms this time around.

$629 will be the price in Canada. That'll sting a bit more than the first one, even adjusted for inflation.

I mean... if you're getting this thing without Mario Kart, you're a backwards person... so it's $700. And the new games are $115 if they stick to the proper conversion from $80 USD.
This thing is cool, but it costs as much as a PS5. My kids are about to learn the definition of "high interest loan."

The pricing is a bit of a cold shower, for sure.
