Monahan certainly is worth more but Bennett likely would be a 1 for 1. No way the Flames trade either but looking at what the Yotes would want those players fit the bill. Yotes have no reason to trade the 3rd pick to the Flames for any less which is why it is not a trade that will happen

I like this as a 4/5 option. If he wanted to sign for 2 years around 3 mil.

The Yotes are not trading the 3rd overall unless by some miracle they can move up in the draft. They will have the worst team in the NHL next year roster wise, they have a Captain that might help the rebuild process they desperately need if he would waive his NMC but refuses to leave because he cares more about horses and his golf game than winning, and the prospect cupboard is not exactly overflowing there. They need to draft high for the next 3-4 years and to get the hell out of Glendale before they become competitive again.

Now I may get burned for this, but it's just my opinion of what I think the best offer could be from the flames.
To calgary- arizona 1st Rd pick (3rd overall)
To Arizona - all picks in 2015 draft from CGY + any d prospect
I doubt phx takes it, but it's the best offer I would make...
I'd pick either Hanifin or Ivan

I disagree with them having to stay at 3rd overall. If they can trade down a few spots and gain an additional draft pick/player, they should do it. The talent drop off from 3 to 5/6/7/8 is far less than the talent drop off from 2 to 3. They'd have to pony up for Eichel.

Not good value for AZ. Basically quality for quantity. However, why the heck are the Flames trading 9 picks for 1? If you want to trade up, Phildelphia or New Jersey is the way to go.

Isn't that what Feaster did to try and get McKinnon? To be honest, if we could get Hanafin, I'd do it. But like FFF said, I'd try to make a deal with the flyers or devils and get Proverov

Ya I think Feaster did try that...
Hanafin is the big fish, trading with Philly or the Devils makes great sense as well! Not sure if I would give up all our picks for 5-7 tho which makes it a bit less painful.

FWIW, I think Provorov is going to be the better player than Hanifin. If he wasn't Russian, I think he would be considered the #3 behind McDavid and Eichel.

Not sure if it's good value for AZ either. Just the biggest offer I would be willing to give them if I was GM. I'm not obviously..lol but ai think getting a top 2 d man and future partner for tj would be worth the picks. I would be pretty confident that the team would be only a top 6 forward away from being a contender a year or 2 after that. (Hopefully poirior or klimchuck could fill this roll)
They could then use all the picks from the next 2 drafts to restock the cupboards.
Like I said though, just my armchair opinion

I think your probably right. I was fortunate enough to see Ivan play a couple times this year. Even if he isn't "better" there won't be much of a difference either way.
This probably makes your idea of trading with Philly or NJ a better option.

I would never do that. You have to remember that Arizona draft twice in the first round, and then again at 32. So, 3, 28, and 32. That's probably the equivalent of 3 first rounders considering how deep this draft is.
Therefore they'd essentially have :
15 (from Calgary)
28
32
45 (from Calgary)
52 (from Calgary)
53 (from Calgary)
59
63
76 (from Calgary)
81
83 (from Calgary)
123
136
166 (from Calgary)
183
196 (from Calgary)
It's insane how many picks they would have.

Well if that appeals to them then great! That could essentially speed up their rebuild and give the Flames a serious prospect. Flames don't really need quantity at this point.

It might well appeal to them but personally I would still never do it. You're talking about forsaking three 2nd round picks, plus the rest of the picks. Sure, you'd get a top player, possibly elite player, but then giving up entire stock of draft picks. No. Remember this rebuild is about drafting through the years to get to a point where the team can be a cup contender. Build the team through your draft picks, and trade for the secondary pieces.
I acknowledge the possible option you proposed though.

How about give them all of our own draft picks?
Would leave us with 3rd overall and still some in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Jackman is too slow & too old. He was exposed in that Minnesota series
