It would be pretty rad if the Oilers did get Karlsson and he plummeted back to Earth for the rest of the term.

they would pick up a $10 mil dman past his prime
similar to spending assets for Keith
the water has a way of speeding up the aging process so if it doesn't work out usually it's not long before the player retires hockey or to Europe

No chance the Oilers get Karlsson. SJ isn’t going to retain that much cap and if they did the Oilers don’t have the assets to get him. At 50% retention if I’m SJ I’m asking for Draisaitl.
Much more likely they go after Chychrun. Hoping the Yotes stand firm on their price which if the ask price is true is likely Holloway+Broberg+2023 1st+Yamamoto/Puljujarvi.

I’ve been told that all players waive their nmc so that they can play with the twinkies.

He has a NMC, but not a NTC.
So he can be traded to any team, but he can't be demoted to the AHL without his consent. If the Oilers acquired him, they would have to assign him to an NHL team somewhere.

No he can't. A NMC implies a NTC. A trade is considered a move.

Not necessarily. Some players have NMCs that include only a limited NTC. In Karlsson's case this appears not to be true, which is unfortunate because it spoils the joke.

He has a full NMC. He can’t be traded anywhere without his approval.

Fans and teams need to really get over the fact that just because a guy was highly drafted he deserves the benefit of the doubt and all these extra chances. Puljujarvi is a bust. He's not going to ever be a good player in the NHL. I guarantee anther team will give him a chance but as with Yakupov he's just not NHL material.

the best thing Frankenberry has done in the NHL was his halloween costume this past year. there is a reason the oilers didnt trade him, he has negative value like Kassian

It's such an interesting social media battle between some established writers (Spector) that seem to honestly hate the player, and then the "smarter than everyone else" Oilers twitter base that refuse to see any wrong in the player.
He still has decent defensive metrics, but now his expected goals are waning. He can't seem to be a part of a chance that finishes in the net.

My favourite is Puljujarvi in that clip. It looks like he is practicing counting.

Puljujarvi has been mishandled with typical oiler expertise from not getting him an English language tutor and finding help for him when alone many miles from home in his first season, to letting him return to Europe partway through, to not helping him develop his skills at an NHL level and the complete crisis in confidence.
It’s so oilers…and so lovely!
