I’d be shocked if Whitecloud is moved.

Flames have 3 NHL caliber defensemen right now (4 if you count Kuznetsov, he’s been good but unproven). And one hasn’t even played a game for us yet.

You can’t ice Pachal and Hanley 20+ minutes a night.

if, as some insiders are saying, a dozen teams or so are asking about Whitecloud, it would be foolish to take a 2nd just for the sake of getting it over with.

If I'm Conroy, I'm telling one of the 153 assistant GMs in the organization to pull an all-nighter just taking all the calls about Whitecloud, and get back to me with the best two offers of the bunch so I can take my pick and close the deal.

Flames realistically can't drop further than where they have. VAN is too far behind.

Kadri and Coleman are aging out, so trading them makes sense.

I don't think you trade Whitecloud just to empty the coffers. He has value to the Flames' future. So any package would have to offer them more than what Whitecloud does for the Flames moving forward.

Whitecloud probably retains his value too, and you could get around just a good of a return next year or the year after as a rental.

I would not trade him unless it's for a 1st plus something else, like a decent prospect. Like if SJ offers a 1st and McKinney? Sure
