But still an enjoyable movie.
The Wolf of Wall Street, respectfully, seems an odd choice for family viewing.

Took the wrong lesson from that “I could’ve got more” speech, I guess.

If this isn’t wholesome family viewing, I don’t know what is. So many good life lessons for both my son and daughter.

While not being Oscar type films, the movies coming out of Prime lately have been pretty good flicks.

Palm Springs, Greenland, The Tomorrow War. Would certainly recommend all three.

Dino Dana: The Movie was a big hit with the 4 year old. She's been wanting to watch every day for a week. Personally I was impressed they had money to put Ice Ice Baby in the soundtrack after clearly using up all their budget on dino CGI.

Also she watched all of Luca but didn't like it. She seems to get upset at movies where the kids are being naughty and might get in trouble. I'll write up a full review later but my first impression is that Luca is confirmation the Family Guy manatees were included in the Fox to Disney sale.

I got to watch Luca over the weekend and thought it was pretty good. A little by the numbers for a Pixar film though. The betrayal went in the opposite direction than I was expecting so that surprised me. But still pretty nice.

I only saw the last half of the Tomorrow War but it was clearly very stupid. Terrible writing. Maybe if you're going to spend all that money on Chris Pratt save a bit for someone who can write lines for him.

Now watching Drive. Good God what a movie.

Watched The Little Things with Denzel. Decent crime thriller which also features Mr. Robot's Rami Malek who was very good in it. Felt like it never reached it's potential but was entertaining throughout.

I am wondering why you think that?

Objectively it is a good movie.

Further is touches on a number to great conversation points:

-Sexism
-Substance abuse
-Infidelity
-opportunity and employment
-repercussions of actions

Maybe I am wrong in my approach to parenting, but I think that it is useful to see these types of topics and have these types of discussion with your children. Certainly not when they are 5 & 7, but a 17 yr old that is about to start University, hell yes and a 15 yr old that is about to go to high school, hell yes again.

The more we make topics taboo the less likely our children are to discuss them with us or ask for help because of potential shame (for want of a better word).

Perhaps I'm wrong, but so far it's worked. My 17 yr old daughter just got accepted into the top program for her area of study in the country and the boy is rocking 90's coming out of Jr high.

At the end of the day you raise you children your way, but I am striving for an open and honest relationship with my children. I can't and don't want them to think any topic is off the table.

Tomorrow war felt like a long commercial but I'm not sure what they were selling.

Watching sex scenes with your parents can be a bit awkward, otherwise I see no problem watching Wolf of Wall Street with teenagers.

Just getting caught up on this thread and I missed the Terminator talk.

This is my ranking from best to genisys.

1. Terminator 2
2. Terminator 1
3. Terminator Dark Fate
4. Terminator 3
5. Terminator Salvation
6. Terminator Genisys

T2 is one of my favourite movies of all time, one of the best sequels and one of the best action movies of all time. T1 is like a noir horror movie, great movie but does feel dated compared to T2. Dark Fate has some really great parts in it (and bad) and is really close to T3 in my eyes but does edge it out. T3 is largely a remake of T2 with stupid jokes, but it does have some great action set pieces. Salvation is the biggest departure of the franchise, if this movie had more of a story it could be higher. Terminator Genisys is my least movie favourite by far.

Some of the biggest problems with the Terminator movies after T2 were the casting choices. So many awful choices. T3 had a cowardly useless John Conner. With Dark Fate Dani was not believe as a leader / savior and I hate to say this but I didn't like Linda Hamilton's character and portrayal in this one. Genisys had the worst casting of them all with Sarah Conner and John Conner. The actor playing Kyle Reese was pretty meh I suppose, this actor is pretty meh in everything. Obviously the movies after T2 take some strange story directions and some of those even are ignored in some of the latter movies. Overall I am a fan of any Terminator movie as I love the concept but I do consider anything after T2 to be a guilty pleasure movie.
