Edit: It was Kaká. Cannavaro was in 2006. So those were the last two before the Messi/Ronaldo dominance. Crazy to think in 12 years nobody else has won - Iniesta or Xavi should have won it in those Spain World Cup/Euro Cup years though.

That was the goal that sent them into the World Cup final and they didnt celebrate nearly as hard as the English celebrated the goal that beat Tunisia.

Kaka had an amazing year in 2007, his performance against United in the semi finals that year was legendary stuff. A shame injuries limited his prime years, one of the best Attacking midfielders of all time. Never had that defining moment for Brazil tho, which is a shame. I saw him play live in 2013 and even tho he didn’t have the speed his long balls he would play were amazing to see live.

As he listed the players and gave due props, he had some special words for the Liverpool captain.

That's no small statement considering the performances of Jordan Pickford and Harry Maguire amongst others.

And it's a comment that will earn him some rare praise amongst Liverpool supporters, a fanbase he has done little to appeal to with spells at both United and Everton.

Nevertheless, there's certainly substance in the argument that Henderson was England's star performer.

Its kind of a tough call, on the one hand you do really want the 3rd place game, it makes a degree of sense although the players dont really want to play in it especially as their domestic seasons are starting up in less than a month and they've really only gotten about a week off.

So you're damned if you do and damned if you dont. It would be weird not having it, but theres lots of reasons for scrapping it.

Oh well, I mean look at today, a bunch of players got a run-out at the World Cup.
