I feel like Trump's team leaks stuff like this to move on past scandals that could have teeth. The Comey firing didn't look like it was going to go away, so let's "leak" something else outrageous. I'm sure there will be no actual smoking gun, but it did succeed in knocking any Comey headlines off the front page.
I expect if things keep going downhill, I suspect that leaking a Trump sex tape has to be in the cards.
Is this going to be Donald Trump's Monica Lewinski moment? "I did not have contextual relations with those Russians."

I highly doubt this will be his downfall, his base supports him no matter what. The campaign showed the only thing that can do any harm is an actual video of whatever harmful event, and even then the damage is temporary. It would have to be an audio tape of Trump leaking information that directly lead to the death of a soldier or something.
Otherwise, Fox and the rest are presenting this as fake news made up by the leftist media, or actions by the deep state, which the base accepts, and the rest of the Republican party can muddle along because their base still supports them and they can get Trump to sign more tax cuts for the rich.

Trump mouthpiece Jeffrey Lord (who for some reason is really aging quickly) was on Anderson Cooper tonight. When asked about Trump giving classified info to the Russians in the Oval office, poo-pood the whole thing by bitching about the Washington Post's role in releasing the Pentagon papers. Which happened 45 years ago.
And even worse, Hollywood liberals Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep might star in a movie about it! Disgraceful!
Rosenstein accepted the invitation last week, but a date and time was still up in the air. The briefing, which will be open to all senators, will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Senate aides said last week that it is expected to be a wide-ranging discussion in which lawmakers will have the chance to ask questions.
Trump doesn’t embody what’s wrong with Washington. Pence does.
Quote:
I don’t feel an iota of sympathy for Pence. He was among a perfidious group of political opportunists who pushed Trump’s candidacy while having to know that he was intellectually, temperamentally and morally unfit for the presidency. They stuck with him as he mocked the disabled, belittled women, insulted Hispanics, libeled Mexicans and promiscuously promised the impossible and ridiculous — all that “Day One” nonsense like how the wall would be built and Mexico would pay for it.
Quote:
I also have little sympathy for Sean Spicer, who plays the role of a bullied child. Trump routinely sends him out to lie to the American people, which he has done ever since his insistence that the inaugural crowd was bigger than the photos showed. He persists at his job even though Trump broadly hints that he will soon fire him. When Spicer is gone, he will be easily replaced. Washington is full of people who have no honor and no pride, either.
Quote:
From most of the Republican Party comes not a whisper of rebuke. The congressional leadership is inert, cowed, scurrying to the White House for this or that ceremonial picture, like members of the erstwhile Politburo flanking Stalin atop Lenin’s mausoleum. They are appalled, but mute. They want to make the best of a bad situation, I know, and they fear the voters back home, but their complicity ought to be obvious even to them.
Quote:
For all of them, an accounting is coming. When they are asked by history what they did during the Trump years, the worst of them will confess that they bobbled their heads like dumb dolls, while the best will merely say they kept their heads down.

Well you certainly knew this was coming after surrogates went out last night to deny the WaPo story: They are now firmly under the bus, yet again. Why do they do it to themselves for the orange goblin?

The piece I saw him on, he immediately started talking about Hillarys email server.
Also saw some other Trump apologist, who immediately started talking about Obama being overheard saying to the Russians, he would have more flexibility after the elections.
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
Hillary Clinton should not be given national security briefings in that she is a lose cannon with extraordinarily bad judgement & insticts.
