What is a good two player cooperative game for the switch? Looking for something pretty easy, think Mario level of game.
My wife and I have a game night and we just play games together. She is not much of a gamer so big games are out for her as she gets frustrated easy when it gets to hard.
We just finished Mario Wonder and she loved it. Tried other games like Over Cooked and she liked it but not loved it after a while.

Nintendo has said the Switch 2 will support Switch games, which is nice.

Hoping that means it can run the older games with better quality, I stopped playing Pokemon Violet because I couldn't get over things just a little far away being animated at 5fps...

Why would Nintendo want that when they are selling hardware and exclusive games? Last thing Nintendo wants is their games on steamdeck

I never said they would, or should, want that. I was saying what I want.

Sony has started porting their games to PC. I assume that's not hurtig their hardware sales. Nintendo tends to do things differently though so I doubt they would follow.

I've bought over 100 games on Switch and it was nice to play some of them at higher quality using an emulator, or having them on the same device asy PC games.

I'm glad to hear the new Switch is backwards compatible. Maybe those laggy games will run better.

The problem with something like Scarlet/Violet is that they're just ugly games in general. You can't brute force something better looking out of that without a major overhaul to the engine and art direction. It'll still have a barren world using poorly tiled texture mapping, but I guess it'll run at a slightly less awful framerate in towns. Legends Arceus at least hid some of those problems with art direction and segmenting the world a bit better.

Yeah for sure. I mean it'd be nice to have an updated version of the game released with lots of new stuff but I'd probably finish playing it even if they just improved it to the point where it wasn't so distracting.

I would like to get confirmation that physical cards are indeed usable. I saw there was some language translation where people were not absolutely sure (somehow perhaps just digital copies). But I sorta imagine that it wouldn't be that silly.

I know but you were suggesting what you and others were doing was not piracy which it clearly was...not judging I sail the high seas myself but its still piracy. PS5 Porting their games to PC a year or two after release is totally different than someone running them on emulators.

It is perfectly legal to play a game you own on an emulator. I’m not going to suggest that’s what most people are doing but I enjoy having that choice. I do play games I’ve pirated but usually because I can no longer purchase them, which Nintendo is bad for.

I love supporting game devs. I’ve bought my favourites on multiple platforms. I’ve gifted games like Stardew Valley to people because it’s so good and want to reward ConcernedApe for it. Nintendo is actually losing out by not porting games.

Sony putting its games on Steam is different than playing them on an emulator. But my point is Nintendo doesn’t do the former so I’m going to do the latter, with no hesitation because I’m not hurting them.

If you are dumping your own cart, which nobody is doing. Owning a game doesn't make it legal to download the ROM dumped from somebody else's cart and use it. Also, the BIOS certainly isn't legal to use. Nintendo wants to sell Switches...they aren't putting their games on PC

Like I said I use emulators too but Nintendo is well within their rights and what people were doing is illegal.

So, a quick Google search would suggest that an announcement of the next Switch should happen before March 2025, but I'm assuming the actual release would come much later? How likely is it that they announce in March and then release for sale in April?

I think it will be a pretty quick turnaround but maybe not that quick. Possible it releases in April but then I'd expect them to announce it no later than February.

^ What's the latest thoughts on backwards compatibility? For both physical games and other stuff like controllers?

That would be extremely fast compared to how Nintendo has done a reveal/release schedule in the past:

Wii - revealed May 2006, launched November 2006 (6 months)
3DS - revealed June 2010, launched February 2011 (8 months)
Wii U - revealed June 2011, launched November 2012 (17 months)
Switch - revealed October 2016, launched March 2017 (5 months)

If they announce it in the next few months, then it probably won't show up until the summer at the earliest?

Not much 100% confirmed -- Nintendo themselves have only said that Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with Switch games and that the online accounts will be carrying forward. So, that really only confirms that all digital games are gonna carry forward for sure. Anything beyond that (like for cartridges) or accessories would just be speculation.

Excited to pick this up once it's released. Not much a gaming guy myself, but it has pretty sweet games for parties and hosting, which I do a lot.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a plain LCD screen for release. An OLED version down the road again. Would kinda kill it for me I think. Maybe.

Yeah it’s OLED (or possibly mini LED) or nothing for me.
