Bike season is here. They were out in full force today. My gear grinder is not the suspected "those bikes are so annoying on the roads". It's that I want one so bad.

Saw one take off against a mustang today and got the itch to race like when I was younger. I guess it's probably a good thing I won't be getting a bike.

If this was last year, I'd be totally annoyed about loud motorbike season being here again. That's one thing I won't miss about the Beltline.

Not to get all hipster on this, but how out of touch does one have to be to only now get on the Keep Calm and Carry On train. Do these people also wear Von Dutch hats and carry fake LV bags?

What are you going for here? There's no way that you can go faster than the cashier through those lanes, or that you can even beat a line 3 deep with that much food. Just complete ignorance.

If it's Superstore- it isn't about beating the other line. It's about being able to see what price things are scanning at, and being able to bag without feeling the pressure of having to bag fast enough to not be a slacker in the main checkout line. It also saves playing "bag roulette"- trying to guess how many bags you need.

I'm not saying I do this often. If I do I make sure I'm not going into the self checkouts unless there are several free machines. I'm also only going in knowing how to scan; at what points it verifies the weight, and knowing any codes for bakery or produce.

Ah, being a superstore pricechecker, my first job.

If I close my eyes and concentrate, I can relive all the moments of people demanding a price check on a .62 cent can of beans, or a single banana, just so they could get the item for free. And hold up the till for 10 minutes in the process.

The hell I can't! Bagging while you scan at the same time makes it much faster for me. Plus everything ends up bagged the right way, and I don't have to deal with annoying chit-chat from the cashier.

If anything I think it's the people that have no idea how to operate those machines that bog everything down. If you have to have the cashier come help you out every other item ("How do I put in codes?...This item won't scan....Why won't it let me scan the next item?) do everyone a favor and stick to the regular lines.

I absolutely agree with you. At a minimum I am half as fast as a cashier. Probably 2/3rds the speed. So I absolutely agree that if a line has more then 1 person I can win in self checkout. Its simple. Have your cart organized, know your codes, know how the machine works.

I regularly put 20 plus items through the self checkout and do it efficiently.

With all the gravel on the roads a biker is asking for trouble. A lady friend of mine has an expensive bike and refuses to bring it out this time of year. She said it's not worth the risk of having the bike go down after hitting a patch of gravel.

I've ridden my bikes for years at this time of year and have never lost it to gravel. You have to be careful.

Not Superstore this time ... but I get what you're saying here. I should have clarified that I am talking about situations when it is a busy time (not a lot of checkouts and no reasonable expectation that there won't be a line). People who pay attention to the situation they are in aren't the problem here, as far as I'm concerned.

Again, you don't seem be to be type of person I am complaining about ... I am complaining about the person who pulls in with a cart full of groceries and moves through them at a glacial pace.

"Hmmm ... which one next? Oh, this one. Where's the bar code? Oh. It's here. Let me turn the item as slowly as possible. Oops. I don't want it in that bag. Better take it out. Why won't it let me scan the next item?"

Again, you are not the issue. 20 items isn't a big deal. I am talking about people who take a full cart of groceries through the self-checkout. Like easily two weeks worth of groceries.

I did the grinding yesterday.I went to CT and bought 47 dollars worth of cleaners for the house and paid in CT money.The highest bill was .25 cents the people behind me gave me that look.4 inches thick of nickles and dimes.

Some of the placement of advanced greens and bus stops. There is one where the bus stop is about as close as possible to the intersection, so while you feebly watch your advanced green there is a bus stopped right in the way.

Another one is people doing right turns onto the same street while the advanced green is going. It just further exacerbates the situation when the left-turners yield. Just keep going.

I hate waking up for work, making my lunch and then finding out the job isn't ready. Waste of a night because of me sleeping early and a waste of a morning because I can't fall back asleep. Some builders are so unorganized.
