I've lost track of the announcements that have been lost in the ether.

They should start with one, and just worry about that.

As for the Mando movie (which is apparently real), rumors have it that it's been a disaster and rather than tying together the larger Ahsoka/Mando plots, it's just a glorified side plot in movie format.

I'm embarrassed to say that I couldn't stay awake through the first two eps. What I saw before drifting off looked solid and in line with the tone and execution of the first season though.

It looks and sounds like a 750 million dollar project.

Unfortunately I was running on very little sleep and like in S1 Andor loves to take the slow burn approach in the first 3. I'll give it another go at some point this week.

That TIE fighter variant was super cool inside. The few cockpits we've seen in this series have been great. Lorian's from last season was pretty badass.

WTF is with that TIE fighter? I'm not going to deny that it was pretty cool, I liked that, but boys, come on with this 'prequel nonsense!' If you want to set a show pre-Yavin then you dont get to have some super cool experimental ship that is never seen again. Even if they write it off somehow and explain why even Andor had trouble flying it they have to explain why, in 6 movies later, it is never seen, heard of or even ever mentioned again.

Trying to re-watch season 1 as it was such a long break before season 2, but man the first few episodes are a slog to get through. Second time ive tried to get my wife into this show and she's rightfully losing interest. I might have to just jump to season 2

In Legends, and we know these guys like to bring things forward from Legends.


That Tie was a Tie Avenger Prototype, it was the precurser to the Tie X1, Darth Vaders specialized Tie Fighter.


Basically Andor stole Darth Vader's Tie Fighter

But yeah, it did seem massively overpowered and went against what the Empire was all about, cheap easy to produce and manitain and fly fighters with pretty much disposable pilots.

honestly I think the more you think about it the cooler it is that they were on Yavin 4. Showing it's none to the Rebels, but shows how they haven't yet formed a consolidated movement, infighting, are a mess etc. In four short years we see Yavin 4 as the foundation for the Rebels first major victory. Seems very Gilroy.

Also I wonder if we'll get a Dantooine sighting

Looks pretty similar to the Tie Advanced Fighter that Vader was using and also the Tie Interceptors from RotJ. It makes sense that if Vader is already flying an advanced tie fighter by the battle of Yavin, they'd have other development pathways already on the go.

Apparently it might also be the Tie Advanced from the Star Wars Tie Fighter game. There's a plot line in that game, where tie fighters get hyperdrive.

I could 100% see the empire exploring ideas like this. Then deciding that it's too expensive and going back to the model of more disposable ships and pilots. Also, something in the plot of Andor could convince the empire that spending this much on ships isn't a good idea. The Empire seems like an organization that would throw money at a problem but then also strangle out any R&D gains with bureaucracy and in fighting, and then abandon a bunch of fruitful projects for no good reason.

And in a galaxy with probably 10's of trillions, there are lots of pilots. And if you can survive in a Tie Fighter, you become an elite pilot. One of the story lines in Legends were that rebel pilots for the most part were just not that good compared to Imperial Pilots.


So yeah getting the Emperor to green light a bunch of hyperdrive capable shielded fighters wasn't going to happen.


We saw that in Rebels with Thrawn's defender program. For a Empire with the size and wealth, Palpatine was pretty focused on the per unit cost, and when your a Sith that doesn't care about the individual soldier these super fighters weren't going to get built.
