I'm very surprised by the Common Sense Calgary poll results and really wish a reputable source would put the money into polling by ward. From what I can tell, the IAFF Local 255 are the only ones that have done a proper poll, and it was only city wide for mayor.
Diane Colley-Urquhart polling in third place with only 20% in Ward 13? I remember Linda Fox-Mellway coming in a distant fourth in 2010 after spending fifteen years on council, but I didn't think things were that bad.

Ooh! Time for a CP history lesson!
Before this "Chu and Farkas" transgressions thread, which became a general Calgary city council thread, Sean Chu was an idiot councillor. There was an idea to make a Sean Chu transgressions thread to document his failures so that they would not be forgotten and could easily be referred to when the next election came, which, sadly, he won.
This thread is not that thread. That thread is here. Enjoy!

I totally forgot about that thread. Man, that was when Chu was still my councillor before the Ward 3/4 boundaries were redrawn. He was terrible right out of the gates.

I started in Ward 7, then got unceremoniously tossed like an Oilers jersey at Rexall into Ward 4, and the embarrassment that comes with that. Please. Change.

It's a single data point right now, so not worth putting all your decision making into that poll, but it's certainly interesting. There was a comment earlier about DCU being voted back in many times despite there being "generic conservative" candidates in previous civic elections, but I think the difference this time is that DCU has both done very little for Ward 13 during this term (that's my general opinion of her as a Ward 13 resident) and also started attacking the provincial government on things, especially health care related things. I'm willing to bet this, plus the general malaise of her recent term and her pretty low-key campaigning has swung the UCP voters in Ward 13 enough to vote for the new generic conservative candidate.

If you would like visual evidence of what has already been stated, please take a gander at the Ward 4 candidates forum:

There is a stark contrast between he and DJ Kelly in terms of knowledge and preparedness.

Agreed on everything else people have said about Chu. He's not bright, he does dumb things like take pictures of bike lanes at 11 AM on a Tuesday in January and complain about them being empty but if he'd been there at 8 AM it would have been in use.
It's disingenuous, not helpful, and he's not a builder. Plus his close ties with the UCP and especially Magliocca are troubling to me.

As someone that grew up with a father that was elected in all three levels of government (municipal, provincial, and federal), and can say with complete honesty that the most impactful vote you have as a citizen is your local councillor. There is an absolute, direct relationship between the work your councillor does and your standard of living.

I'm guessing those medals Chu is wearing are from his time in the Taiwan military, but why go to the effort of putting them on for this event? Seems like such a lame attention grab, and they look ridiculous hanging off a regular suit

One medal is the Queen's Jubillee (on the far left) and another is the Alberta Centennial (third from left). Second from left is a police medal. Far right looks like a police medal.
How about Hopkins?
Wearing ribbons above medals is poor form and he should know better.

I do remember reading something somewhere that made me change my opinion on Chu. I don’t think he’s intentionally a bad guy...just an embodiment of Dunning-Kruger I suppose.

Pathetic. People are voting for Davison and Field because they DON’T want Farkas.
