They made a big offer to Panarin before he went to LA. They're all in.

They are ahead of the oilers on point percentage right now and probably want to get that third pacific spot if possible

Not happening, for two reasons:
1. Nobody ever does that – throw games for six weeks on purpose to get a lower seed.
2. It's extremely unlikely that any other Central Division team can catch the Wild even if they did decide to tank the rest of the season. Utah is 14 points back with 21 games to play. That's pretty much an unbridgeable gap.

Really weak division with Vegas and Edm not playing well at all. I wouldn't blame them for buying

I would do that. The flames could always go to free agency to get a new veteran defenceman - likely not as good as Whitecloud but still could find someone to act as a buffer and leader for the young defencemen on the team.
The way things are going with Vegas… maybe you can convince Andersson to sign.
Unlikely anyways that Buffalo makes that trade.

They have a very similar record to Edmonton, who seems to be buying.

Images of Shane Wright wearing a Flames jersey are popping into my brain again.

It's hard to tell. Some posters have been saying some very silly things seriously. My apologies.

Carolina honestly seems like the perfect fit for Kadri. They have ok assets, they are a contender, they have cap space, they could really use Kadri at C.

To me it's been the most obvious fit for a while.
With Aho and Staal they have the centers that play the tougher matchups, which Kadri doesn't actually excel in.
They need some grit and edge to get over the hump in the playoffs.
They have the picks and assets the Flames would covet.
They have a cap dump that would work for the Flames that helps balance the salary considerations (Kotkaniemi) but still fits what the Flames are trying to do since he's only 25.
Kadri
2026 2nd UTA
for
Kotkaniemi
2026 1st Dallas
2028 1st (Dallas or Carolina)
Cerrato or Ryabkin (Would be kind of nice to have Cerrato who is playing with McKenna right now)
Get another first in 2028, upgrade the UTA 2nd round pick to the Dallas 1st, and get a recent 2nd round pick center prospect that gives you another bullet in the chamber at C.
And I still think Kotkaniemi can be a contributing piece in a bottom 6 role while the young centers develop.

Vegas and Edmonton are lucky I'm not the Flames GM right now. I'd be selling all my wanted assets to Pacific teams in the attempt to completely push them out of the playoffs.
Wish Conroy had the petty mentality.

Yeah - agree. A lot of the Flames strength of schedule comes from the fact they have to play the Avalanche 3 times. Two of those games are in the last week of the season and the Avs are probably going to just be playing out the string with the #1 seed sealed.

I think Conroy got enough picks for 2026
He can wait to trade next year for 2027 picks
Still think this is the best time to trade Kadri , it’s downhill from here on for him

The way Dallas and Colorado have been playing of late, that is not a foregone conclusion by any means.
