Maybe KC Center couldn't take any more guys deviating to the south of that system.

I don't know how long you were tracking but that map shows a decision to detour north at one time and where the storm was maybe 60 or 90 min later correct? Maybe that storm changed direction and started to move more to the north just after they started their detour?

Went to the Alexander Graham Bell museum this afternoon. I got a few pictures of C-IIGY (aka the replica Silver Dart)
You'll also note that the registration number is not on the fuselage. They got special permission to fly without displaying it as the original never had a registration number.
Photos from my iphone so the quality is medicore.

Very possible. i wasn't following closely enough to see how often that weather radar updates.

YYC spotter Glenn Casey has been lighting up the Spotters Facebook page with absolute gems as of late, but this might be his best yet.

Yeah that is sad.
I had a chance to fly a Socata TBM 700 years ago, a very nice personal private turboprop. Fast as snot too.

Get ready to see these all over Phoenix and Vegas on your trips down there: Southwest's new livery has leaked, was supposed to be revealed Monday. I'm not even sure how I feel about this livery at the moment, but I was too quick to judge AA's new paint and ended up liking it so I'll hold off. I don't like the font... of that I'm sure.

I like it, lots of colour and no Euro white to be found anywhere.

Agreed, I appreciate the fact that they actually use colour and make an effort.

I like the current Southwest livery
The new one seems brighter, but I don't know if I like the big text on the fuselage.

A plane just landed on a highway somewhere in the Kananaskis area after an engine failure. Sounds like everyone is okay. About 10 minutes ago an Air Canada flight YEG-YVR relayed the mayday call to ATC.

That CTV report makes my head hurt:
Quote:
Witnesses say they saw smoke coming from the plane and the plane in a nosedive.
|
The whole "nosedive" thing was most likely the normal approach for a Cessna, to the average person it would look nothing like an airliner coming in with a few degrees of pitch up on the nose. It's definitely a noticeable nose down approach until the flair.
Good on the pilot for getting this bird down safely in the mountains.

I didn't get out for it, but a whole lot of YYC spotters did. Here is Chris Sands shot of the landing:

That's a lot of rubber being burned.

Yeah I'm looking at the picture of the thing parked neatly on the shoulder like, "that doesn't correlate with a nosedive..."
