Novak takes it after 3 hours and 48 minutes. Crazy good from both guys.

How do you describe that 3rd set for someone not watching this match. Unbelievable.

All I know is it's going to be a sad day when Novak packs it in because nobody else currently in the game appears to be close to Charlie. Maybe Medvedev can give him a match, but he's just too passive on hard courts.

Truth!
Charlie is going to run roughshod after Nole retires and it's going to be an absolute shame. Still, Nole is a decade and a half older than Charlie and he's still capable of winning. Both these guys aren't human.

I think Jannik Sinner has the best chance of the young guys on tour challenging Charlie, the US Open match last year was a thrilling match. Adding Darren Cahill as his coach was a shrewd move.

So I was babysitting my niece today and had to PVR the match. Earlier today I was thinking well 4hrs should be enough time to watch the entire match I mean it's only 3 sets. Recording stops at 3-3 in the 3rd set tie breaker
Was truly a special match, I wonder if running around in 30+ heat will affect both players prep for the US Open, they both must be absolutely gassed. Anything other than these two playing the US Open final will be a massive let down.

The people watching the Tennis Channel Plus stream (I presume in the US mainly) had the same thing happen to them. The stream cut off at 3-3 in the tie-breaker and came back on for the post-match interview.
/Prior to PVRs (you know, when we used VHS tapes), my wife (fiance at the time) recorded the 1994 World Cup final between Brazil and Italy with a 2 hour tape. It stopped recording just prior to the penalty shootout

Maybe the only guy on the tour that can get away with that is Fucsovics.

Yes, Novak is able to win a match like this in Cincy, but how long is he going to be able to do that if this is the kind of effort it takes to take Alcaraz down? I don't see him sustaining that over 5 sets in a major, but I guess we will see possibly as early as 2-3 weeks from now.

I like the injury protection pilar as well...
Pillar 2 - Injury Protection - supporting players who play fewer than nine ATP Tour and Challenger Tour events in a season due to injury. This progressive initiative includes thresholds set at $200,000 (Top 100), $100,000 (101-175) and $50,000 (176-250) in 2024
