so after about what 10 days or so of the stories of chinese interference in the elections, suddenly the PM/PMO's office did not know about the interference.
the PM's cover story might have been believable - 9 or so days ago

It takes time to scrub the servers of the relevant emails and destroy records of any communication. Once everything is taken care of Trudeau can play dumb to the matter.

That narrative that he wasn't briefed, didn't know makes no sense considering that he "Challenged" the leader of China on political interference. Also the Global story iirc correctly seemed pretty insistent that CSIS did do briefings. But this is the first stage of an investigation.
Lie your a$$ off.

The briefings did not identify the 2019 candidates. But the alleged election interference network included members from both the Liberal and Conservative parties, according to sources with knowledge of the briefs.

This does not sound like a partisan issue. a little political unity would be nice.

If I thought that the RCMP was capable, or had a able leader, I'd say this really needs to be a counter intelligence/counter espionage investigation by law enforcement, and that usually would be the RCMP.

As a side, it is funny that the "communist NDP" does not appear to be dragged through this. If serious threats to Sovereignty and National security can be funny.

Sam Cooper has been working on this story for years now.
Trudeau is either very forgetful, or he is either outright lying. He doesn't know anything, but intelligence briefings are saying he does? Gee, I wonder.
Quote:
His response stems from a Global News report — which appeared on November 7 — about an alleged Chinese interference effort that Canadian intelligence officials warned Trudeau about, beginning last January.
Global News reported that intelligence memos cautioned Trudeau and several unidentified cabinet ministers that China’s consulate in Toronto had organized an election-interference network in 2019. The intelligence said the consulate earmarked a significant sum which was transferred to an unidentified federal campaign staffer, who then sent the sum to an unnamed Ontario MPP.
Separate sources with knowledge of the 2022 briefs told Global News that this elected official subsequently disbursed that amount to other members of the network, which included at least 11 unidentified candidates and 13 campaign staff, according to intelligence memos.
Those same sources, Global News has reported, alleged that an intermediary facilitated fund transfers of about $250,000 to the MPP and federal campaign staffer in question.
Some, but not all, of those candidates and staffers were witting affiliates of the Chinese Communist Party, the intelligence memos alleged, according to information obtained by Global News.
The alleged scheme was all done to advance Beijing’s political agenda, intelligence memos said.

Because he didn’t say he wasn’t briefed on interference, he said he wasn’t briefed on specific candidates receiving money which is why he doesn’t know who they are, and the report about the briefing states that those candidates were not named in the brief.
Similar to how I feel about that Andrew Coyne tweet which misrepresents why the speaker was “disappointed,” I’m finding it interesting how desperate people are to make this into a partisan issue where their chosen baddie is to blame. Seems like it impacts both the Liberals and the Conservatives, but there’s not yet much evidence of lying and everyone seems eager to have it investigated properly (despite the CSIS, if I remember correctly, already saying that interference didn’t not impact the result of the last two elections, so it isn’t like the issue has just been covered up - seems like the right people are already aware).
I urge people to actually read the articles carefully, as it seems some of you are filling in your own narrative or going based on tweets and headlines.

Ya, the Coyne tweet excerpt was not a reflection of what the article said.

China knows not to waste money on a party that has no chance of being elected.

Why'd they invest in Conservative MP's then?

Canada’s economy lost almost $13 billion over the past year due to a nationwide labour and skill shortage in the manufacturing sector, a new report has found.
Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters’ (CME) annual labour survey of 563 manufacturers in 17 industries across the country found that almost two thirds have lost or turned down contracts and experienced production delays due to a lack of workers.
|
https://globalnews.ca/news/9224124/c...-economy-loss/
This is interesting, because to me it is a combination of issues.
Companies not paying enough.
Not enough emphasis on training skilled workers to fill these spots.
People not wanting to work in this industry because it is physical labour.
Which has brought us to high immigration levels to try and fill jobs.
A couple provinces have woken up and realized that provinces are responsible for education, and perhaps they need to invest more into skilled trades instead of constantly blaming the feds for everything. But maybe little too late? With a high level of retirees coming from these sectors, the shortage we see now will be a blip on the radar compared to where we will be in 5-10-20 years.

He did a great job of dodging the question if he knew the identity of masked the confederate flag holder was as well.
This guy will end up being JT’s scapegoat.
