There will be a female chair umpire for the Wimbledon men's singles final for the first time in the history of a tournament first played in 1877.
Marija Cicak, a 43-year-old from Croatia, will officiate Sunday when Novak Djokovic faces Matteo Berrettini for the championship at the All England Club.

Has anyone been to the Rogers Cup? I believe next year the men are in Montreal and I'd like to see Nadal play live cause he's not going to be on tour much longer. Thinking this is probably the cheapest option.

I've been but like 10+ years ago. Depending on flights, the cheaper option is Indian Wells

Wimbledon finially gets with the times.
Trivia, without looking it up, what year did the first woman umpire a major men's final for the first time.

I was thinking IW, but Rafa doesn't always play there. At least Rogers Cup he's always there.
Also total guess but I'll say 2000?

My guess is the 2007 Aussie Open.

Sandra De Janken did both the 2007 Australian and French Open final. But oddly neither tournament has had a female umpire again. US Open has three times, 2015, 18 and 20.
As for Nadal sounds like your choices are Montreal or New York. Can you get to Washington in a few weeks?

Berettini serving bombs. But Djokovic still managed to make Berettini play a 10 min game on berre's serve. Berettini hasn't been able to unleash his forehand much.

Great point by Berrettini to get back on serve.

Oh man, that was a forehand Berrettini usually puts away at 5-3 in the tie-break.
Edit: What a get on the drop shot and great shot to win the point.

Berrettini needed to hold that game to start set 2 and should have up 40-15. We all know Novak isn't going away.

I’m not a tennis master or anything, but would strategy dictate that Matteo should just hand over this second set quickly and save his strength and energy and regroup for set three tied 1-1?

Ya that wouldn't be a bad strategy, but he just about evened up that 2nd set.
Best of 3 now, Berretini needs this 3rd set bad.

That might have been a viable strategy in the pre-fed era. Once Sampras got a break, he'd be uninterested in the other players next service games. He knew that once he breaks, his service game is good enough to win. So he conserved energy.
Now a days, you have to fight for every game. Maintain your rhythm and don't tank. Rafa especially was relentless in keeping the pressure on.
If Berettini wants to be a top tier player, he'll need to fight for every point and trust his fitness.

Tanking a set is more of a strategy in majors because you can always afford to lose a set, in best of three not so much. And it all depends on context, I think there is such a thing as "smart tanking" where you don't try and get into deep rallies and just try and end points quickly by going for all or nothing shots (i.e. it's a winner or it's an error, no in-between). If you get hot and get back into a set great, if not you didn't burn extra gas.

It could be old school as it’s decades since I played anything competitive but if you were down a couple of breaks you would fight to ensure you were serving the first game in the next set. You also might work on fixing something that was off. If your backhand wasn’t working you might spend a few points focused on getting it down. Your goal was to have something positive happen.
Extending that set by winning a couple games in this match was something positive and with their fitness level expending that energy is probably ok.

Berretini has brief moments when he looks like he can take this. Unfortunately he isn't able to keep it up all set long.
