Maybe, but with two 1st round picks, one of them possibly in the top 10, and after having a high pick last year, the ability to set the peices for the next era of the organization is there.
A new GM will make the picks in the direction he wants to go..and unless you can 100% believe that the coach who went through this year, is on board, you don't use a wait and see approach, you cut your losses and move on with a new staff.
If it is Holmgren it will be unique because he did work with Mora for 2 years on his staff and may get more benefit of the doubt...but with a team with a high payroll and supposedly the talent, something has to take the fall. Coordinators? And after another year with same coach you may have to make that change anyways.
The other factor here is this division...as bad as the team has been this year, they had a chance to pull within a game of ARI a few weeks ago. ARI looks awesome then like crap. When Warner goes in a couple years ARI will look like crap more often then not. St. Loius is going nowhere fast. SF has consistency issues, but if they stick with the plan for a couple years, they could be the main rival for SEA. Point being, SEA can win this division in any given year even with the issues they seem to have, with a little help in injuries, and more leadership. The ultimate goal is to get to an elite NFC team, but step by step, the division win and playoff spot is up for grabs and the talent is there...again, what is lacking is that leadership begins and ends with the QB.
Until Hasslebeck either leaves, or, more likely, gets some competition at the position to light fire under his ass when he starts throwing his arms up in confusion game in and game out, the team will go nowhere. Mora doesn't seem to be getting through to some guys, and although hard to pin the blame on him, that has to be considered.
Gruden's name is popping up just because of his linkage with Holmgren in GB. As mentioned, it makes sense if you want to clean house, not so much given the QB situation with a declining veteran who needs to be handled with kid gloves, and/or a fresh, higher QB draft pick this draft.
