Plus, when Springer gets back at worst Grichuk is a fantastic depth piece.

Even Romano can't get it done. Ugh.

The second Ryu was out of the game you knew this was coming.
Yankees fans have pretty much given up on their team hoping for a rebuild. But in reality all they needed was to face the Jays pen.

Why was he diving out of the way of that pitch?
Not even close to him. C'mon, this isn't soccer.

Okay, he has had some injuries in the pen to deal with. But.. he also has the fastest hook with his starters in baseball.
It's infuriating.
And yes, management owes him and the team another arm

How many runs can we expect the bullpen to hold the opposition to now? Six? Seven??

Okay, but move him down the lineup FFS. He is killing inning after inning.
My dog could manage this team better than Montoyo

I do agree that he should let some of the starters go longer. Especially with a brutal bullpen, you'd think he'd give the starters some more leeway.

Yes, but that is largely because he bats behind the best 1-4 lineup in baseball

Yes. but look who he's hitting behind.
A warm body would have 40 RBI's hitting in the 5 hole behind this lineup.
DFA is a bit much. But dropping him to 7th is more than reasonable. Especially considering he's not a lefty.

The stats say the 3rd time through to order the batting average increases dramatically.
So you have to bring in the reliever who allows the opponent to hit .300 anyways!

He has been giving the starters more run but it’s not like Ryu was dominant tonight. Ofc then the normally solid Castro and Romano blow it. Anyway just a lot of bad performances when under pressure. Hopefully they can get some reinforcements soon on both sides of the field. And no I don’t think we should be changing peoples spot in the lineup based on a bad run. Baseball is built around hot and cold runs and you can’t just yank people all over the lineup on their last 10 days of results.

that is the most over-used stat in baseball - if you don't have a bullpen, you're still better off with the starter
and until a few years ago, starters ALWAYS faced the lineup 3 times, and often 4 - somehow, they managed

Every team modifies their lineup virtually every night
you apologize for every single thing - sometimes the manager has to try and help his team

You realize that Vladdy started the season hitting 5th and Grichuk 8th right?
Nuance is a huge part of managing a lineup.

And people here hated Semien batting leading and they stuck with him and guess what he turned it around. Baseball players are not just stratomatic cards you plug in and out of your lineup. Players like consistency in how they’re used. I’m not the biggest fan of Montoya but I think a lot of the criticism here is just complaining about bad results. I also don’t think these decisions are solely his so hence I don’t blame solely him for them.

no one is blaming him solely, but he deserves a nice big slice of the pie
