My guess the only way is if the Flames retain salary (i.e. trade deadline or offseason etc.)
His last year of the contract is the concern

I posted on Feb 26: "~$2.25 million is the ask on the Kadri retention."
I don't believe that has changed as of this moment.

Yeah - I don't buy for a second that the interest in Kadri, nor the value he'd return would change dramatically from this Friday until the offseason. This UFA class is complete trash and the cap is increasing. I know we all want action, but we don't need to move the player at this very moment.

Oh, no question, it's a long haul on it. I haven't looked at his buyouts.
I also think his value doesn't necessarily drop as much as people think. His game seems the same most nights. He has always been a bit inconsistent - if he wasn't he'd be a top tier player. But his wheels haven't slowed. His compete level when motivated is still high. He seems like the same player he was in Colorado to me. Just without the surroundings.

So the good offers were from teams Kadri wouldn’t go to. Shocking

I wouldn't put a ton of value in that. There's always gamesmanship going on between the player agent and the teams involved.

A team might pull an offer if they get someone else...but then that is another player off the table and the other teams want to keep pace

Then they don't get Kadri. Pretty simple.
Most wide open year in the East I've ever seen. All those middling teams finally doing something shouldn't be concerned with a depth player in a year or two
I'm quite content with keeping him anyway. Certainly don't need to hold someones hand for three years

Kadri isn't like a lot of players as far as his NTC list is concerned, according to some sources. I think he has some personal convictions (and maybe family concerns). It's also a much longer commitment than most guys who are asked to waive.

The length of Kadri's contract being a problem, is being massively overstated.
He's given no indication that his play is going to crater in the next year of the contract. On the off chance that it does, the third years buy out is very team friendly, at $1.75M for two years.
The only problem for Kadri's contract is fitting it into a cap team.

Yes you risk the offers being pulled. It’s called negotiation. Not cave in at any cost. He is not losing value, by waiting till Friday, he will after Friday. Any team that wants him , is for this years playoffs, there is more than likely, more than 1 team interested. Conroy, is not showing all the cards.

Its been discussed via the radio many times
Consistently they say its the last year of his contract that has other teams concerned

Boring market with just 2 day to go
Market is not the same when the wizard is dead. At least he spreads his own rumors

sure but that is also a negotiating tactic
Flames say we need payment to retain for 3 years, the other team says 3 years is an negative so why should we pay

Yup the Seravalli segment yesterday he told Pat how teams have their internal analytics on aging curves and they don't like what they expect to happen to Kadri's production in that 3rd year. They know he's good now

I doubt it
Basically to trade the player the Flames need to retain salary in my opinion
For sure the Flames want something extra if they retain

For sure. Mostly directed at the people taking Dreger’s word as gospel that the Flames are passing on the good offers
