I just finally upgrade my 11 Pro to the 16 Pro. So far it's been good and the battery life after the 11 is very nice to have. Overall though, can't say that I notice a significant change and I can see the camera button getting old fast

Also with photos, show me pictures of family member name, again tagged, goes to web.
Its got a way to go for sure

Ya it's pretty bare bones, but the improvements are in there (even if they aren't overly numerous). Being able to have a series of interactions with siri where things actually happen is pretty nice. I was able to have this play out without problem:
"set a timer for 10 minutes.... wait how long will it take me to get to <business name>... oh that's longer than I thought, change the timer to 6 minutes."
Also notice it's able to follow along with "what's the temperature in Dubai.... and what time is it there now?" The current siri will only give you the local time when you phrase it that way.
The proofreading is excellent and I've been using that the most. I'm excited for later updates when it can actually generate me text instead of just editing. That's a fairly big gap right now between Apple Intelligence and an LLM like ChatGPT.

It's really quite awesome. Great for resorting your phone apps and layout, etc.

Realized it's available now. I quite like it. Nice that you can use the MacBook to text non iPhone users as well.

It's been awhile but I never had an issue sending text (SMS) messages to non iphone users. You just need to enable the device whether it is a macbook or an ipad on the phone itself.
I actually see no real use for the phone mirroring. It has been available in other ways for years and I just see no practical reason to use it. Maybe there is an app you can't get otherwise on a computer but I don't use them.

It's a much better feature than you think. If you are away from your phone or charging, you can operate in a window on your computer. It's all great for organizing apps if you have a bunch versus the old hold and sort on the phone.

But you need the phone close to connect, bluetooth distance? And I already get 99% of my important notifications on the laptop that are from my phone. Mainly texts and phone calls. That's where it falls down for me. In my setup, I cannot think of what notification or app I cannot already do from any mac computer.
I use a very basic hone screen on my phones. A few important apps and then everything else in the drawer. One of the reasons I prefer Android to iphone.

There is many apps that are not on the Mac store that are on iPhone which makes the management of those quite nice. However like you mentioned if you are not using those apps then it would not serve a huge purpose.
iPhone also has an App Library so if you want nothing on your home-screen you can. Then just launch from your App Library, search or by voice.

Anyone have an issue getting the 80% charge limit to work on their apple watch? It seems random and lately it just doesn't work.

That has never worked for me, it always goes to 100% even though I have optimized charging limit enabled.

Mine as well. I can’t just stand a monitor the charge that’s the whole point of the feature.
Pretty annoying.

I am well aware of the app library I just do not like the implementation compared to android. A single swipe up to show me all apps vs the side swipe to show me groups? Hate the grouping.

New Mac mini with an M4 or M4 Pro chip. Base model starts at 16GB RAM now which is great for the low end. M4 Pro starts at 24GB RAM and can go up to 64GB. 10 gigabit Ethernet is also available.
Not sure what I'd use it for but I want one.

I have 6 or 7 M1 Mac Minis and they are great little machines. Fantastic really. For about $1200 they are truly great. Use them for all kinds of "server" type tasks.
Haven't looked to closely at the new one but I could see a few scenarios where they would work well. Honestly, it is all most people need in a desktop.

My favourite was when my wife sent me a question about buying our kids some boots and my brother sent a text about how if traffic gets any worse he might just choose death.
"Reminder to buy boots; brother contemplating suicide."

Doesn't seem there's any boxing day deals on a device only iPhone 16 Pro that I can find.
There are ones for sale on Facebook but not sure what I would look for to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off, seems like a lot of risk to safe a few hundred $$
