From 1994! I was there! A spec in the crowd somewhere!
The best match by far I've ever seen live, and it was HOT AS HELL!
Looked like an amazing game. Haha poor Netherlands, their last 3 consecutive world cup knockouts came to Brazil twice and Portugal once. If they get knocked out by Brazil again KNVB personnel are going to be hearing Portuguese in their nightmares.

Yup and Portugal knocked them out in 2002 qualifying too! Nightmares indeed!

The Dutch will have their hands full with Brazil, but it should be a brilliant game. I'm assuming it will be the most anticipated game of the next round.

I think that has the potential to be the game of the tournament - the winner likely goes to the final and both sides are pretty attack minded. With Argentina and Spain 2 of the 4 most talented sides in the whole tournament.
That was tough to watch as a Chilean fan. Chile created a lot of chances and could have easily scored 3 goals if they had better finish, but Brazil was always there to snuff out any opportunities. And Chile couldn't execute defensively, it was just a case of running into a better team. But if Suazo capitalized on a few of his chances..
I'm torn, I like Brazil and the future Mrs. Cactus Jack is Brazilian so I want to cheer for them, but at the moment I can't bring myself to cheer for them anymore.

Oh yeah, not to mention that whoever wins will likely progress past the winner of Ghana/Uruguay to the finals.
This is where things get interesting. That was a pretty inspiring Brazilian performance though, it hardly looked like they were even trying.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Wow, this Brazil team has come a long way from Romario and Bebeto as forwards. They not only still have the skill but they are a big healthy fit team that is very dangerous on free kicks and corners. Of the teams left only the Germans have a bigger team. The keeper looks like a defensive lineman.
It'll be interesting to see them progress through the tournament.

Haha, Italy and England go crashing out and all of a sudden this thread is a ghost town.
Hey, I quoted a ton after the Germany fiasco. I was out of town today so computerless.
I'm actually glad England is out, funnily enough. I will support them fully when they're in but they added absolutely nothing to the tourny. I'd say third worst disappointment after France and Italy.
Germany look very good both now and for the future.
Congrats Locke on supporting, by far, the better team.
And their styles clash. The only way to beat Brazil I think it to grind them down and frustrate them. Chile attacking Brazil in the flanks is playing right in their hands.
And Brazil are a much taller team.

Might as well chime in on Italy now that I have come out of mourning.
Lippi used too many Juve players this year. Juve was 7th in serie A and he practically brought the entire team with him. Not only that, he played half of them out of position.
I knew this team was done when he didn't select Miccoli, Totti, and Cassano. Those players, especially the first two deserved to be there. Everyone thinks Balotelli should be there, but the truth is hes too immature/young (19) for Italy.
Also the constant starting of Milan scrubs Gilardino and Juve ""HITMAN"" Iaquinta, was pathetic. Every Italy fan knows that Quagliarella and Pazzini should have been starting, with di Natale being a possible second half sub, and Iaquinta only coming on for closing.
The defence was just baffling. The only player worth his salt for Euro is possibly Chellini, but even I wasn't all impressed with him. I like Cristico, but like a Santon or a Motta he is too inexperienced for NT work.
Prandelli will no doubt bring a different era for Italy, and we should see some young players on the team like Aquafresca and Giovinco. I don't think Italy needs to change it's style at all.
I just hope Italy keeps it's identity of having ITALIAN players. I would hate to see them bring NT-eligible players like Thiago Motta, Zarate, and Amauri. We are not germany here.
These players are not good enough for italy anyways.
Anyways, here's looking forward to Euro, and until July 11th I can still proudly say ITALY are the CHAMPIONS.
