As for Bingo's point, I definitely agree they are in a rebuild. It's obvious. But personally I'm not overly excited if the team goes into next season again with most of the premium ice time going to the team's oldest players. If you're going to lose, I'd rather lose with mostly young players in those spots. The sooner you get draft picks and prospects into the organization, the better IMO.
I guess the above two points are a little contradictory but I'd rather just force the ice time to these players and bite the bullet. I'm not so convinced that destroys the long term culture. Losing is losing.

Kerins and Stromgren I would like to see get a shot in the top 9. Suniev I have a harder to evaluating.
Worth a shot anyway. Not just a game or two on the 4th line.

The hotel incident was 2023.
The substance abuse program violation was 2024.
Both incidents took him out of the playoffs in those years.
As to why now? Making room for Makar. Plus it looks like Landeskog is healthy for the first time in years. Also wouldn't be surprised if there were more incidents that the team managed to keep out of the public eye behind the scenes.

Some folks just want the Flames to do whatever the Flames will do, and will happily cheer along at whatever the result. 40 years of futility be damned.

They haven't been doing nothing.
We all are aware of the 40 years. We just don't drag it around and into every conversation.

The UFA class this summer is not great, which could boost their value somewhat.

I do agree that I'd like to see them play in lieu of aging veterans who won't be part of the core when the team is competitive. But I have doubts that either are capable NHLers.

Any idea if Murray Edwards at the game last night since Gary was there?

Hopefully Stromgren is a little more ready than his last game. He was really bad.

He was. They showed them together on the broadcast.

The market on Coleman and Kadri is with the idea that Calgary retains salary on either player, the problem becomes that they can only retain on one player at this deadline. So to maximize the value one player will have to wait till July 1st or after.
I don’t think anyone is stating that it is illogical to want to trade both Kadri and Coleman and get great returns at this deadline. I just think it is unlikely to happen. I think if you don’t retain on Kadri or Coleman people will be very disappointed with the return you get for those players.

They have the assets to overpay too. A future Dickinson - Nemec pairing would be good.

I’ll give them the summer before calling it a failure. I prefer they trade both by Friday but would only call it a failure if both are starting the next season in Flames jerseys.

What is the role of a Director, Player Health and Performance on an NHL team? Is it strictly strength and conditioning coach or would they evaluate if a player is fit for duty? Would another teams Director of player health do a health check on another clubs player before a trade is completed?
The reason I ask is I saw such a gentlemen in the Calgary Airport Last night

More smoke to Bobrovsky getting moved.
Panthers just signed Louis Domingue to a NHL contract for the remainder of the season.

Me too. I'm not that worried about how much of a chance they get, because if they are middle 6 forwards (which I doubt), they are adequate at best.
The pipeline for forwards (particularly winger) is good but just not ready. I don't think anyone that is impactful is being held back. Gridin is getting a lot of opportunity, and he's the only one right now I think that is NHL ready.
Suniev is getting better as the season progresses in the AHL, but he needs more time.

Well it was Matt Nichol of the Sens. I just thought it extremely strange that he was in Calgary, and the Sens were not in Calgary. Why was he in the Calgary Airport at 7:30…. Just thought I would ask as I have no idea what his role is and if he would evaluate medical charts or something before a trade
