I just don't get the click bait reactions.
He may know something.
He likely doesn't.

LOL ... no!
It means they made a decision that the asset value will be higher in the summer or at next year's trade deadline than what they saw this week.
Period.

PS I am not saying we are adrift, I am just pushing the same narrative you've pushed in opposite. It's just funny to watch the guns fire either way. Less convinced than ever than anyone knows anything at all.

No. Rebuilds take time and neither player is on an expiring contract that requires moves immediately.

Sure, but then the opposite (trading some people means we are in a rebuild!!!) is also a dumb position.

If the offers are underwhelming, there's really no rush to move either guy outside of giving yourself more room for dropping in the standings, but that's not guaranteed anyway. I really hope we didn't wait too long.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I'll be disappointed but then it moves to a new debate. Will the values be like Markstrom this summer? Where it turned out well. or Andersson? Where it was non existent.
All I know is regardless of how this all turns out, I'm done with insiders telling fans that player X is "going to get a haul".

To me that's Too optimistic that that organization can never make a mistake.
If they thought the offers were good enough to even throw Coleman and Kadri into the trade mill, but then can't generate a good enough market to actually move them, then it means they didn't assess the situation correctly.
This is different than Thomas who is 26 and has lots of term in the prime of his career left.
Kadri and Coleman are not going to get a better return as they continue to get older.

They are both aging assets. Kadri was worth more last year than this year. And he will be worth less next year.

Contending teams often don't want to deduct from their roster. They only want to add.

I think Kadri is plan B, C or D for some teams. However, if I am Conroy, I see him as my #1 priority. If Kadri pouts the rest of the season, will Conroy be able to even move him in the off-season? Or will teams simply assume that father time is knocking on Kadri's door? 3 more years of term on a guy who may or may not be getting affected by father time is a roll of the dice, and I am not sure any GM wants that. I think Kadri should (and will) get traded this week.
Coleman is the guy that I think you can wait on. He is entering the last year of his deal, and he he hasn't fallen off any cliff at all - playing some of the best hockey he has played. There is a lot less risk with his deal, so I think more teams would be willing to trade for him this season and next.
I think everyone else will go pretty much on deadline day. So if Hanley, Pachal or Lomberg (or someone else) get moved, it is probably that day.
That's how I see things anyway.
|
I would prefer the retention used on Coleman to up his value and he be the one traded this year if it can be only one. I hope Conroy has learnt his lesson holding onto guys until they reach their last year. Both Hanifin and Anderson used the threat of free agency and not resigning with the team that trades for them making the return a "rental". Same thing will happen with Coleman if Conroy waits until next year.
I agree with other posters, that for how long Kadri and Colemans names have been out there, they pretty much need to go now, but Kadri has 3 more years left, so if the deal isn't right then don't trade him.
For all we know is Conroy hasn't traded Kadri as he is trying to get the best deal to send him to a destination of Kadri's choice, so it may look from the outside that Conroy isn't doing right by the player, by having their names out there, but behind the scenes he is treating them very well. It is not the media information future players are going to remember its what the players are saying.

I don't think the value of Coleman or Kadri changes all that much between now and the summer. I don't think changes much into the next deadline for Coleman but Kadri's could go backwards imo

There's no spinning this. Coleman and Kadri both now want out and this was (rightly) created by the team management. You started down this avenue, now finish it because the rest of the players are watching how these guys are being treated and it will determine their future commitment to the club and the reputation of the team and how it treats its players. Conroy ####ed up the Markstrom situation in a similar fashion, not getting the trade done in the window expected and alienating the player. That ultimately worked out for the team, but when the same things happen with Coleman and Kadri, that becomes a trend and how a reputation is earned. So yes, I think this is a total failure if those players aren't moved as expected.
|
Dude, did you fall out of bed this morning and bang your head?
What have both players come out and said just recently about how Conroy is handling this situation, and the respect they have for him, because of it.
Seriously, chill out dude your gonna hurt yourself.

But there is nothing concrete to back that up. It's only conjecture and without having those offers in writing (in triplicate and notarized) there is no proof this was the case. Don't you know that you need to have paperwork to prove anything, and if you don't have that, it didn't happen.
